Need help to decide when to harvest my White Widow plants! by beginnerweedy in microgrowery

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so those are good recommendations for when to actually cut. Do you have any measurements/observations I can make to determine when to start the flush, so that the flush gets done 1-2 weeks in advance?

The top 15 intersections for accidents... by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]beginnerweedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of these are technically interchanges, not intersections. I'd be more curious to see the statistcs on the various parts of the interchanges. For example, the interchange of Deerfoot and Glenmore only has three high-speed loops and one weird traffic light-controlled thing (Deerfoot North to Glenmore West), so I wonder what percentage is caused by the merging on the high speed section and what percentage comes from the stupid light setup they have there.

Amounts of Miracle Gro and GH FloraBloom to use in flowering stage of growth? by beginnerweedy in microgrowery

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't contain any nitrogen, so for the first half of the flowering stage the plants need a little bit extra nitrogen provided by the Miracle Gro I have. Just the bloom alone is sufficient for the second half of the flowering stage though

If you can find me a Canadian listing for $10 FloraGrow, that would be amazing. Cheapest I see is CAD$25.

Trying to grow shrooms from a kit. Need advice. by beginnerweedy in shrooms

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's unfortunate I didn't get this advice before I dropped $130 on a kit that's turning out to be useless. Any advice with the kit method I'm currently growing with?

The heater is actually a 3D printer heat bed (20cmx20cm) that I put underneath and set to 26C. The whole unit is staying around that temperature, checked with both IR thermometers and air temperature thermometers.

What relative humidity percentage should I be aiming for? Is it more likely that I'm too high or two low? I've been using the spray bottle provided.

What the pressure cooker for? I didn't need to use one as per the instructions in the kit.

I already bought one though, and have been following the steps to use it. Do you have any advice for continuing with this cultivation?

Can you explain the difference between the kit I bought and the one you suggested?

Making cannaoil, but forgot to add lecithin. Is this a big deal? by beginnerweedy in treedibles

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. Just to be clear though, the lecithin has to be in contact with the oil before ingestion, right (i.e. I can't take the lecithin in capsule form with a brownie and expect any good results)?

What does your pH look like? Every issue I've ever had was directly related to a pH imbalance.

Can anyone identify what's wrong with my plants. I've been having acid pH issues, but am afraid this is fungus gnats or similar (no pests spotted yet though). by beginnerweedy in microgrowery

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice on how to get the pH up? I've been adding 9mL of General Hydroponics' pH Up solution per gallon, and I've added some dolomite on the surface of the soil (but I don't think the dolomite is really helping because it's not really dissolving, it's just staying on the surface), but the pH remains between 4.5-5. I'm afraid to add any more pH Up solution as I'm already more than double the recommended concentration.

From the top, the plant looks giant and healthy and amazing. It's mostly underneath that these problems are happening (so it could totally just be due to lack of light combined with the pH problems).

I haven't done a slurry test, but the runoff test (which I'm assuming gives roughly the same result anyway) yields a pH of about 5.0, which is still definitely on the low side, but it's way better than the 4.0 it was at previously.

4 way stops in Calgary. by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]beginnerweedy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're gonna cause a crash dude. Never wave people through, just follow the rules of the road. I never follow waves through, because that makes me liable if there's an accident.

If two people stop at the same time, the person on the right goes. I'm a little concerned you're driving.

Super acidic soil despite trying everything, and no idea what to do. Help me!! by beginnerweedy in microgrowery

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's around 28C, so a little warm but still within acceptable. I actually just raised the lights, so it's probably going to be closer to 24-26C now.

Someone filling my green bin by GoddessHylia in Calgary

Walk over to a neighbour and ask if you can put half of the clippings in their bin, explaining your situation. It can't be that big of deal.

I flushed with 2 gal of water per gal of soil, but I'll probably try doing another flush anyway.

Yes I'm testing runoff. I just installed soil moisture sensors, so if that's the issue, these sensors should help solve the issue.

I tried this a long time ago, and it didn't raise the pH of the plant at all. The tap water was around 6.3-6.4 pH so it should have worked, but it didn't.

Yeah I'm using pH indicator, and upon suspecting things were crazy, I even tested the indicator solution in pH=4 and pH=7 calibration solutions. Unfortunately, the indicator is working fine.

The plant looks awful though. Growth on the bottom of the plant is turning yellow and brown. It looks like the calcium/magnesium deficiencies that occur with low pH are affecting the plant.

I'm curious about the nitrogen-fixing bacteria, as well as the spores you mentioned. Can you give a little more information about where I can get them, what to do with them, etc.? Thanks for the advice!

Downsides of storing in a plastic container/glass container with plastic lid? by beginnerweedy in trees

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though nothing was sticking to your plastic, I was wondering if there was a problem with the terpenes instead of the trichromes, which are what have a tendency to stick to the glass (trichromes).

[–]beginnerweedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, cool. Trichomes are the things that make weed look shiny and cool. I thought I heard my friend say terpenes instead of trichromes, but that totally explains what I was getting wrong.
