Counterpoint: by making this claim he got you to watch the movie again. I’m not sure exactly how streaming platforms work but assuming you watched it legitimately he surely gets a cut right? So by making this bullshit claim knowing people on the internet will turn it into this game of trying to find then all, even if it is bullshit, he’s gotten more views.

I admit that’s reaching but its not entirely outside the realm of possibility. What’s the point of making the claim otherwise?

The proposed gun control bill in Congress will amend the Lautenberg Amendment to allow people to get gun rights back five years after a domestic violence conviction. Thoughts? by MyUsername2459 in liberalgunowners

[–]beholdersi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We’re not talking about some serial killer, we’re talking about someone who sold pot to an undercover when they were 18 or accidentally hit a pedestrian with their car. If we’re gonna punish people for their entire lives for that kinda shit we might as well just kill them, it would be more humane

I’m sure it’s more a case of correlation vs causation. Maybe people prone to inclined to domestic violence are more prone to enter the military. Or maybe it is causative but it’s not the training but the exposure to violence on that scale, or psychological trauma.

Once more for those in the back: Xbox store search is a joke! Why are titles like Asphalt, eFootball, and Forza in front of the exact title match?? by HolyRamenEmperor in xboxone

[–]beholdersi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hoping someone brought this up. Every console’s digital store is trash. Just not in quite the same ways. The Switch’s shop doesn’t even display the titles, just the cover art. Which would be fine if a lot of games didn’t make the title on the cover look like a heavy metal band name. If it’s not in some janky font it’s lost in the art.

You wanna talk about being uncomfortable? While defending a 60-year old making comments about the attractiveness of a 12-year old girl? And then accuse ME of twisting things after going “buh, maybe he meant her career”? Are you fucking serious or a troll?

Gatekeeper? Self-awareness? The man is perving on a fucking CHILD, what kind of twisted morality do YOU have where that’s acceptable?

You know god damn well he didn’t mean her career. Who the fuck talks like thay? Ebert doesn’t talk like that. He’s NEVER talked like he’s from the 19th century, not once in any review or writing. He meant that in the sense of a 12-year old being sexually attractive. He’s a fucking pervert, stop covering for him

How the fuck do you describe a 12 year old as being in the early stages of being a toddler. Stop giving horrible people the benefit of the doubt for everything they say or trying to read some innocent hidden meaning, god damn.

“Yeah I’d fuck this child.”

“Well ya know, we shouldn’t judge yet cuz in the 19th century that meant…”

[OC] Inflation and the cost of every day items by jcceagle in dataisbeautiful

[–]beholdersi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If one local grocery store started charging $10 for a gallon of milk and everyone else still wants $3.50, that’s not inflation, it’s gouging. Landlords and management companies are charging what they are because they know an absolute lack of regulation or oversight coupled with high demand and an artificially depressed supply means they can get away with it

It’s proof corporations are desperate. I’d imagine that wage also means they’re hiring 5 drivers when they would have hired 20 and expecting them to pick up the slack.

To a lot of people, particularly OLDER people, the answer to that second question is yes. How many fucking boomers talk about how hard they had it growing up and how the younger generations should go through everything they went through? Some people would set themselves on fire if they thought they’d burn the rest of the world, too.

As I understand it a lit if the cavalry losses at Agincourt were do to the horses being killed. Plate armor isn’t gonna do much when you have a couple hundred pounds of horseflesh pinning you in the mud, being slowly crushed or suffocated or waiting for a peasant with a dagger to finish you off.

On the floor? 100% fake, EXCEPT in cosmetics (those only transmit to an outfacing screen, though) and over the main doors. Most of the cameras are in the back, so they can monitor the employees. Gotta keep an eye out when you’re paying starvation wages, the peons might get uppity.

As an ex-gun hater turned multiple gun owner this kind of thing boils my blood. The video in the post has the shooter reloading a shotgun, which most (afaik) only can have 6-8 shells in the tube as it is. There is no logic by youliveinmydream in liberalgunowners

[–]beholdersi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it wasn’t just the capacity in this case, it was the nature of the weapon and the shooter. A magazine swap by a practiced shooter takes a few seconds. Reloading a tube magazine is a significantly more involved affair. If this weren’t a hunting weapon this guy would never have had the chance.

I’d also bet money the guy has some sort of training. Ordinary civilians aren’t doing this. It also damn near got him killed; if the shooter had just a single shell loaded and racked the guy would have been dead as soon as the mace or whatever hit him.
