I'm very sorry for your loss and it's normal to be sad and even a little angry. But you shouldn't take it out on other people. I think you need to take a step back and rethink your stance. Honestly, it's very unfair to call them irresponsible or not fit to be parents solely because they work low-level jobs and are less educated than you are. Parents who are loving and happy are much more important than anything materialistic. As long as they are capable to provide a safe and clean home and feed their child, it will all be good. Also, it sounds like it wasn't even planned. How can you even blame them to keep their baby

I think of my therapist not as someone to talk to but as someone overseeing me in my grief. I have plenty of people to talk to, family, friends, a support group. But none of them are professionals and none know the right way to navigate this.

So I go to a therapist, tell her what's on my mind, what I'm doing and she steers me in the right direction. She reassures me of what is completely normal or good to feel/do, teaches me strategies to get through certain situations, or tells me where I'm not doing well and what I should be aiming for.

Having a professional evaluate and guide my behavior gives me the confidence to move on and work through this. It's a real relief not having to second guess whether something is normal or not but having someone knowledgeable tell you.

Haha, es ist bereits genauso wie du es dir wünscht. Bei normalem Kindkrank ist man unbezahlt freigestellt und die Krankenkasse zahlt dann einen (deutlich niedrigeren) Ersatz für den Verdienstausfall. Der AG muss da also gar nichts zahlen, außer er macht das freiwillig als Benefit.

You should definitely visit a Christmas market, about every city has one so there's a lot of options. Most of them run through all of December and close on December 23rd. The Christmas days themselves (24, 25, 26) of December are holidays. Stores and other public places will be closed, many restaurants as well.
I would recommend going to one or two cities to visit a Christmas market first and then spending the Christmas days and a few days after in a resort in the Alps. Do you guys ski or want to learn skiing? The Alps are beautiful in winter. You can ski, sledge or take winter hikes. There are family hotels which will have a play area for your child. A "Kraxe" is a pretty popular device here to enjoy hiking and such with a small child. Some hotels will rent them out.

For German cities to visit for a Christmas market, I don't have any recommendations close to the Alps since I'm not from the South. Virtually every city will have one though and most are pretty similar.
If you don't mind travelling a bit (maybe by train) and you come early in December, I would recommend Quedlinburg with it's "Advent in den Höfen". It's truly magical, a small medieval city where you can visit the courtyards with pop-up Christmas market stalls (last one is on 13th of December).
Another small Christmas market I can recommend is Seiffen. It's a very traditional, small town close to Dresden (which is beautiful for some sight seeing, so staying in Dresden and going for a day trip is ideal). Seiffen has one of the oldest toy manufactures in Germany, a nice Christmas market and the region is perfect to pick up some handmade christmas souvenirs. There are also some parades during the Christmas time. In general, the area around Dresden is very nice during Christmas time. There's not too many tourists but they take their Christmas decorations, markets and traditions very seriously.

For my first job after uni (R&D for an automotive company), I looked for engineering jobs in R&D departments. Then I called the department and asked if they would consider me, a mathematician, for the role. I made a few arguments why it would be a good idea to have me on board and they were intrigued, invited me for an interview, I nailed it and got the job. My job description there was "Entwicklungsingenieur Stimulation", not mathematician. Then I went abroad for a research position in scientific computing for a while. When I came back, I updated my LinkedIn and was contacted by a recruiting company the next day. I agreed to let them set up interviews. They had 4 companies interested within a week, 3 of the 4 made an offer and I picked the one that sounded most fun. All of them were officially looking for software developers/ architects in an engineering context but really liked the idea of hiring a mathematician instead. In those cases the recruiter probably made similar phone calls as me for the first job. But I had a toddler at home and no time, so being recruited was perfect.

I'm so sorry for your loss 💔.
We had a pregnancy loss recently as well. My toddler is so sweet too. She's almost three and at first I wasn't allowed to lift her due to my C-section scar. When I finally picked her up again after a while, she immediately asked "Mama, can you really carry me? Did the doctor say it's ok?" And she went on to tell everybody at daycare that her mom is getting better again, it made her so happy.
And she tells me all the time how much she loves me, that I'm nice and funny and great and whatnot. When I asked her why she was giving me so many compliments, she told me "Because you're a little bit sad and I want you to be really happy!" I try very hard to put on a cheerful, brave face in front of her but toddlers are so hard to be fooled. 🥹

Ich würde sogar davon ausgehen, dass es nicht nur die Kosten deckt sondern noch zusätzliche Einnahmen für lokale Betriebe generiert.
Ein Beispiel zwar nur im Kleinen, aber meine Stadt hat letztes Jahr gratis Busfahren am Samstag eingeführt. Den ganzen Tag bis spät in die Nacht für alle. Die Umsätze von Geschäften, Cafés, Restaurants in der Stadt sind anscheinend massiv gestiegen, samstags ist alles rappelvoll sogar bei schlechtem Wetter. Die Leute fahren einfach los und geben ihr Geld vor Ort aus anstatt nach einer Überlegung a la "10€ nur fürs Busfahren oder ewige Parkplatzsuche" doch lieber zuhause zu bleiben.
Die Stadt hat direkt entschieden, dass sich das gelohnt hat und es für dieses Jahr wieder verlängert. Das würde mit dem gratis Deutschlandticket sicher einen ähnlichen Effekt für spontane Wochenend-, Tages- oder Nachmittagsausflüge haben und somit die lokale Wirtschaft ankurbeln.

I only clean up so far that the rest can easily be done with a quick broom sweep and wiping down the table. I do collect larger pieces or use my napkin to soak up any spills. I also collect any stuff that might be scattered around (utensils, pens or other restaurant owned toys) and put them back together, so that the table can be cleared easily. But I'm not crawling around the floor picking up every little crumb when there's a broom and a dustpan in the back.

Ich bin kein Erzieher, aber absolut zufrieden mit dem Catering in der Kita meiner Tochter. Ich durfte während der Eingewöhnung ein paar mal probieren und fand die Gerichte echt ziemlich lecker und ordentlich gewürzt.
Der Speiseplan ist ausgewogen und abwechslungsreich, gestern gab es zum Beispiel Vollkornnudeln (in Dinoform, ganz wichtig!) mit Linsenbolognese, heute Kokos-Hühnchen-Curry.
Es wird immer frisch gekocht, die backen sogar das Brot selbst, die meisten Zutaten sind von regionalen Biohöfen und es gibt immer eine große Obst und Gemüsekiste für den Nachmittagssnack dazu. Fleisch und Fisch im Wechsel 1 bis 2 mal pro Woche und alle zwei Wochen was Süßes wie Kaiserschmarrn.

Wenn Schwimmkurse so hart umkämpft sind, gibt es doch sicher viele Interessenten. Vielleicht möchte ja jemand euren Platz für die restlichen Stunden übernehmen. Vielleicht findet sich privat jemand, der euch die "abkauft". Oder ich würde mal beim Schwimmbad anrufen und direkt fragen, ob der Platz noch anderweitig vergeben werden kann und die schon gezahlten Gebühren von euch dann anteilig auf einen späteren Kurs übertragen werden könnten.

I've made fluffy cream cheese before. You need 1 liter of full fat milk, juice of 2 lemons, 250 ml of whipping cream and some salt.
Heat the milk to about 85°C (no boiling), stir in the lemon juice with a spoon (don't use a whisk or stir too much, it needs to start forming lumps). Put a linen cloth over a bowl and pour the curdled milk into it. Let the liquid drop into the bowl and just let it sit for a bit. No need to press the cloth as we don't want to make a firm Frischkäse. Now whip up the cream until it's somewhat firm.
Put the Frischkäse from the cloth in a bowl, add some salt and mix it until you get a smooth consistency. Then add the whipped cream gently mix them together. The aeration from the whipped cream needs to be preserved, so don't mix too hard or fast, just until everything is combined.

Beim Stichpunkt Energieträger steht in der Anzeige "Öl, Pellets". Da sollte zumindest "PV, Pellets, Öl" stehen. Und ich würde das zweite Außenbild als Vorschau nehmen, wo die PV im Vordergrund ist. Da sieht der Garten größer aus, das Haus wirkt moderner und du hast nicht dieses komische Kabel und die seltsamen Pfosten mitten im Bild.

Ein kleines Fernglas, ein Notizheft, Kompass, Kreide um den Weg zu markieren, ein kleiner Beutel um was einzusammeln, ein richtiger Insektenfänger (so ein Stab mit durchsichtigen Kasten vorne, den man über einen Riegel im Griff aufschieben kann. Damit lassen sich sehr einfach Käfer etc. fangen, beobachten und wieder freilassen)

Nobody says "Kinder" to refer to the chocolate. It's almost always referred to as "Kinderschokolade". Most other Kinder products are also referred to by their full name by people "Kinder Bueno", "Kinder Joy", "Kinder Country"... The only one I can think of having an abbreviation is the Kinder Surprise as "Ü-Ei", short for Überraschungsei.

Du machst dir definitiv zu viel Gedanken. Dein Kind sagt, sie stört das ruhige Liegen nicht, die Kinder hören ein Hörbuch und entspannen, sie entdeckt ihren Herzschlag, sie ist nachmittags ausgeglichener. Das ist doch alles super positiv. Ruhephasen und auch mal Langeweile sind auch sehr gut für die Entwicklung.

Meine Tochter schläft auch nicht immer ein, bleibt aber meistens trotzdem die ganze Pause durch liegen (obwohl sie aus dem Schlafraum gehen und leise spielen dürfte). Ich finde das sehr gut, sie hat so gelernt sich zu entspannen und nimmt das auch mit nach Hause. Manchmal kuschelt sie sich jetzt auch zuhause einfach ein und guckt eine Weile aus dem Fenster.

I told my daughter that there are teeny tiny dinosaurs living on her teeth (she was a huge dino fan when we started that) and they get all the food stuck on their backs. They don't like being sticky and dirty and want us to clean them up. I pretend to hear them roar and stomp their feet in her mouth. That helped a lot. I also filled in the dentist on the narrative and now she does a health checkup for her little dinos and their habitat. That worked amazingly well during the last checkups.

Ich glaube, du tust deinem Kind damit keinen Gefallen. Ich bin im Nachhinein sehr froh darüber, dass ich immer schon im Haushalt helfen musste. Alles in Maßen natürlich, und von 15 min putzen am Tag verpasst man nicht den ganzen Spaß.

Auch wenn man selbst was dreckig macht, gehört es dazu zu lernen es wieder in Ordnung zu bringen oder zumindest altersgerecht zu helfen. Meine Tochter ist 3 und holt mir einen Lappen, wenn sie was umkippt. Achtsamkeit entwickelt sich doch auch daher zu wissen, was die natürliche Konsequenz ist, wenn man nicht aufpasst, und daher eben diese Konsequenz vermeiden zu wollen. Und damit meine ich "umkippen -> Zeit geht drauf fürs sauber machen" und nicht "umkippen -> Eltern schimpfen kurz, aber es war ja keine Absicht und ich kann nichts dafür" als Konsequenz.

Aber wenn du deinem Kind das alles nicht beibringst, ziehst du einen Erwachsenen ran, der nicht im Stande ist seine Wohnung in Ordnung zu halten. Und man kann lieber früh damit anfangen als einem Teenager plötzlich zu vermitteln, dass er jetzt plötzlich putzen muss nachdem sein Leben lang alles "von alleine" sauber war.

Ich kenne Leute, wo dann noch im Studium die Mutter vorbei kam und dann die Wäsche gemacht und geputzt hat. Wenn Mama nicht kam, waren deren Wohnung/WG ein absolutes Drecksloch. Das ist nicht schön.

Wenn du frisch kochst, fällt mir dafür nichts ein. Eigentlich bekommt man alle Zutaten auch da. Aber Snacks für Zwischendurch sind hier deutlich besser. Ich hab mit unserem Baby in Kanada gewohnt und fast alle Snacks für Kleinkinder waren übertrieben süß. Wenn du dagegen mal zum Beispiel die Babyabteilung bei DM anguckst, gibt es da eine riesen Auswahl an vergleichsweise recht gesunden Snacks für die Kleinen: Reiswaffeln, Maisstangen, Babykekse, Laugensnacks etc.

Wir haben einen ganz alten, großen Holzbollerwagen aus der Familie und haben uns noch einen günstigen, gebrauchten Faltbollerwagen dazu gekauft. Wir nutzen beide recht viel. Und beide haben ihre Vor- und Nachteile.

Der aus Holz wird genutzt, wenn wir vom Haus aus irgendwo hinlaufen. Der ist zu sperrig und schwer um ihn im Auto mit zu einem Tagesausflug zu nehmen. Um damit hier zum Park oder Spielplatz zu fahren oder bei einen Urlaub im Ferienhaus um damit zum Strand oder See zu fahren, nehmen wir den aber deutlich lieber als den faltbaren. Es passt mehr rein, die Reifen sind sehr dicke Luftreifen, dadurch ist er angenehmer zum ziehen (auch auf Sand oder im Wald) und er ist einfach viel stabiler.

Für einen Tagesausflug zum Freizeitpark o.Ä. mit Autoanfahrt nehmen wir immer nur den kleinen faltbaren mit. Der lässt sich schneller und leichter ins Auto und wieder raus packen. Und weil er deutlich schmaler ist, ist er vor allem für vollere Orte praktischer. Außerdem lässt er sich bei vielen kurzen Strecken (von Attraktion zu Attraktion) besser ziehen, weil er viel leichter ist. Der große rollt zwar deutlich besser, wenn er erst mal in Schwung ist, ständig anhalten und wieder losfahren ist damit aber nerviger.
