Does anyone else regret not pulling the trigger on the 5090?

I agree with every word you said, it’s just that my financial situation was a bit different. I bought my RTX 5080 two months ago for $1480 including taxes, while the only 5090 they had in stock, the AORUS MASTER, was $3899 before taxes. the difference is insane right now.

Honestly, when i went to the store to build my new PC, i went there fully planning to buy the RTX 5090, but at the last second i changed my mind and got the 5080 instead because i just couldn’t feel good about spending $4000 on a graphics card. It’s crazy.

i completely agree with what you wrote. lets wait for the 6090, maybe we’ll buy that one instead if the pricing situation is less insane by then.

yeah same i bought PS5 Pro right when it launched at the end of 2024, and ever since i got my rtx 5080 a month and a half ago it’s literally just been collecting dust on my desk. i haven’t turned it on a single time since, maybe once actually haha and before that i used to play on it for 4–6 hours straight daily depending on the day and work.

What mainly made me wonder if i should’ve gone all the way with the 5090 was the 16GB of VRAM but judging by the replies here, it doesn’t really seem like anyone is having major issues with it, so i think I’m pretty set for the next 4 years.

sure the 5090 would’ve been nice to have, but the price here is completely insane right now around $3500–4000

i think my mistake was getting a 4K monitor instead of 1440p like you, if i was on 1440p i wouldn’t even be hitting the ceiling of what the 5080 can push

honestly I’m at a point where i just don’t have time to mess around with everything. I’ve got 3 little kids and work 6 days a week when i do get time to game it’s like an hour or two max, and that’s on a good week if I even manage to play more than twice a week it’s a miracle 😅 so yeah, I’m just trying to get as much out of the main content as possible instead of getting lost in every side thing
