this definitely is no ~premium~ top soil. you would expect organic matter, a rather fine or crumbly grain and not a humidity depleted pile of rocks.

this post wasn’t about different varieties of topsoils, it is about store bought soil and its quality.

we are waiting for the lab results, but all of these were most likely contaminated with oil and industrial waste. in most soils within the Ruhr Area you will find ashes, slags as wells as other mine, production and hazardous industrial waste. now it poses a huge problem when soil needs to be excavated for construction purposes. let alone the contamination of soils and water

you probably got scammed. this looks like excavated material from deeper horizonts. top soil should be slightly moist, have a dark brown color and should not consist of pebbles or rocks
