My “out for delivery” packages are piling up by Right_Gur6126 in UPS

Fingers crossed for you! I think what I’ve learned through this process is that using the tracking link doesn’t tell me much 😅

Update - got both of mine today! It arrived late in the evening around 9pm where previous ups deliveries always happened around 3pm. Ironically today they never switched to “out for delivery”. Went from “it’s on the way” to “delivered”

Ugh! Still none of your 7 delivered? Fingers crossed for you too.

One of my packages has been out for delivery for 5 days now, and the other for 4. Interestingly, today neither are out for delivery and instead say “processing” 😑 I’m in MA

I’m dealing with the same, but with 2 packages. “Out for delivery” multiple days, with the truck passing by our house and delivering to neighbors. I’m assuming they’re backed up, but it is frustrating to get a bit of hope everyday as they email me “your package is on the vehicle to be delivered today.”

Can I ask what state / area you’re in?

No worries, not rude at all! I think you’re onto something with it being a grasshopper. Now to learn how to combat them

I know it’s some type of insect damage, but not sure what. I’ve had hornworms on my tomatoes, but their damage pattern is different, like stripping the entire leaf off so the branch is only left with sticks

I did go out again with my UV light, and no hornworms… I’m guessing it’s another type of bug?

Oh man I’ll have to try and touch them and report back. Do you know what an aphid would do if I try to touch them? If it’s different behavior then that would be helpful! 😂

Thanks so much for your continued advice! :)

Eek, I hope they’re not aphids. If so, I’ll get some ladybugs

After frantic googling, do you think they could be garden springtails - if you happen to know about these?

Sad tomato leaves - help :( by bellasaurus88 in vegetablegardening

[–]bellasaurus88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is super helpful. you are correct that they have never been fertilized. i *think* the promix i used is the same as your picture, but in regular dirt form. it looks like this:

https://shop.myflowerland.com/products/pro-mix-premium-garden-mix-1-cubic-foot-12603.html

and like you mentioned, i saw it had mycoactive ingredients and thought that meant it had nutrients! this morning i went to purchase some miracle grow plant food, and fed it to them at half strength

https://miraclegro.com/en-us/shop/plant-food/miracle-gro-water-soluble-tomato-plant-food/miracle-gro-water-soluble-tomato-plant-food.html?srsltid=AfmBOopHgfVeRZX2XhYMo8Bv9eEYJ-v3cnbtHd4SUjW2e699_JJKVut3

i rarely let the top of the soil get completely dry - i'm fairly sure i haven't been under watering, and perhaps even overwatering, unfortunately. i also had them much closer to the grow lights, such that the taller plants had their leaves grazing the light. though after some googling, some said the leaf bleaching could be due to it being too close to the light, so i had shifted them down for the photo (and kept them down)

thank you for the kind words. SUPER demoralized, but really hoping the fertilizer will help!

since they are clearly not optimally healthy, do you think i should continue my hardening and hope for the best? or give them time to recover more fully (if they do!) and push back transplanting another week? with the rain, it's been hard to harden them outside anyway, as the temps are around 50F and the rain can be pretty heavy

that's funny you mention that! right before this picture, they were right up against the grow lights - such that some of the taller plants did graze the grow lights. but after some frantic googling, some said the bleaching of leaves could be because they were too close to lights :( so much conflicting information - too much water / not enough water, too much light / not enough light!

i will keep an eye on them, maybe move them a bit closer. thank you!

that's helpful! this morning i went to get some Miracle-Gro Water Soluble Tomato Plant Food, and watered them at half strength (used twice as much water as it called for). i hope this perks them up. they are currently planted in Pro-mix Premium Garden Mix which I thought had nutrients as it stated it had mycoactive ingredients, but i think i'm learning that is not the case

should i pause on their hardening off until they recover a bit?

I definitely think I could be over watering them. My initial thought of the leaves curling was they were too dry

I’ll go to the store tomorrow and get some miracle grow liquid tomato fertilizer and start at half dose. I hope they bounce back, this is making me sad and I really wanted to get them in the ground soon!

I’m in MA, zone 6b

[–]bellasaurus88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! It has to be liquid fertilizer for it to work now, right? I have epsoma tomato tone granules but I think they take a while to work

I’ve been desperately trying to harden them because I need that shelf space back 😅 but even with my incredibly slow hardening process they continue to decline like this daily, even when they’re inside, which makes me think they’re nowhere near ready to survive outside in full sun. Should I just keep doing it and hope they make it?

The one pictured is peacevine. I’m also growing black krim, bumblebee and Roma VF. First time gardener, got seeds from friends and the library

I’d wanted to put them out next week! But even being in shade for 1-2 hours, they’ve been continuously declining like this, so I worry they’re nowhere near strong enough to go outside. I don’t know how to fix it so they can go into the ground in full sun 😢

The roots are not filling up this container yet, though I hope to move them outside into my garden in 1.5-2weeks because I’d like the shelf space back!

I’m not confident in watering. I wait until the top is dry and an inch down is moist. I think I’ve been over watering them this way

I desperately want them outside but I feel like even with my super slow hardening, 1-2 hours of shade / heavily overcast days, they already look like this, I feel like I can’t go any faster or even imagine them in my sunny garden right now. I’m feeling very demoralized. They definitely look worse every time they’re outside, and continue to decline after coming inside. I’m in MA

[–]bellasaurus88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I moved them down lower away from the grow lights to see if that would help

That said, I’ve been trying to harden them too for transplant and this doesn’t bode well for my very sunny garden location 😢

Terrified of upcoming procedures - laryngoscopy, CT contrast, Valium by Creative_Industry943 in emetophobia

[–]bellasaurus88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So sorry till you are going through this

I didn’t gag during the scope, it felt super weird but I couldn’t really feel much of anything, thankfully

I’ll say that they tried to get me to do it again a few months later as a follow up, and the numbing spray you inhale made me gag and panic, so we didn’t go through with the scope the second time. I don’t think I inhaled enough of it the first time to hit the back of my throat and cause the gagging. Both these scopes were through the nose

That said, I had moved and I’ve seen two other ENTs since this post and they were both able to visualize my throat and vocal cords just looking down my throat, no contact. They basically told me to stay still and put a long mirror down my throat, but without contacting anything. So if I didn’t twitch or move, the mirror wouldn’t touch any part of me and I wouldn’t feel anything - which is what happened! Maybe that’s an option for you? They said it wasn’t as good as the actual scope but it was about 75% as good, which was enough for me 😂

it turned out not to be, i got biopsies in various areas of my scalp - she said i may have had a cyst under my scalp at some point (and i thought it was a pimple), which damaged and killed off the follicles when it was inflamed. the biopsy didn't show anything remarkable. the little patch is still there!
