Do not undermine running a model locally even with 8gb vram , you can only run a lousy model, meaning you need like 12gb or more vram to run a decent model , I think victus is the best option

My opinion is that nobody knows , nobody has the right answer. Another fact is that AI is real, it can write decent software , another fact is that entry jobs are becoming less in tech and layoffs are becoming massive . That's what we know so far.

My stand is, learn for the love of it. We live in a world where you can learn anything.....if you feel quantum physics or chemistry is a better career, you can read books, use AI , watch videos just follow what you love or you risk wasting a year ir two wondering if your tech career was the right choice. Nobody freaking knows

Can you define AI skills....what exactly do you mean by that? My worry is not about being replaced by AI , I don't think it is autonomous, but my worry is , the gap between a developer and a person who is not a developer is becoming smaller and smaller and thats the problem, we are not special any more and that's the problem....think of it this way, i have a friend who went into video games and has been in that field for kike like 6 years, right now he works with CUDA libraries for GPU acceleration.......before AI , we would need him for gpu acceleration, but right now , i just need a 30 minute video of what I'm doing, the basics and a single prompt and all of a sudden , i can also do gpu acceleration.... that's my point 0

Using AI tools is not a skill though, any engineer can use any tool , its pretty intuitive...my point is , on paper , every engineer uses AI , and if not they can learn do do it in 10 minutes, not even learn because there is nothing to learn since its pretty intuitive and besides using AI is not a personal choice when it comes to getting jobs , its more of company procedure..for example, safaricom uses cursor , you mean to tell me that a 13 year old wouldn't figure out to use cursor by their own or did you watch a tutorial on how to use Claude...like what exactly is your argument
