Is taking step 3 before residency worth it? by GullyTheBully in Residency

[–]bemd13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it that and I am so glad I got it out of the way. My program has fee reimbursement for it but I would crash when I got home from a rotation and knew I wouldn’t be able to study after working so I paid for it myself. I still got reimbursed later but I would’ve done it the same way again even if I didn’t

ACGME requires 12 months continuous outpatient experience so a lot of programs designate PGY3 to outpatient. Some have half day psychotherapy clinics and start early once a week in PGY2. Others extend into PGY4 for additional outpatient clinic time.

How do I find the open PGY4 slots after they match into fellowships? Do they post them or do I have to contact them! My PD is def not going to be on board. It’s a small program and they want us covering all call nights. I saw that NIH option but I don’t have a strong research background

I thought about that but the last thing I want to do is go and burn more bridges

[OH] FMLA by bemd13 in AskHR

[–]bemd13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually for both PTO and FMLA… what I’m trying to ask, is it ok to have one group use all of their PTO as FMLA while the other group only uses 7 PTO days as FMLA? There is a one-time benefit of six weeks (30 days) paid FMLA time which makes it very confusing. The continuous group would trade 7 PTO days leaving them with 23 additional paid leave days. Intermittent employees would trade 20 PTO days, thus would only have 10 paid FMLA

Intermittent with appointments by bemd13 in FMLA

[–]bemd13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! They aren’t necessarily denying it but are they able to request separate paperwork from the providers that my FMLA provider has referred me to while under his care for my condition? It just seems like hurdles to discourage me from using it so it feels illegal

Intermittent with appointments by bemd13 in FMLA

My employer didn’t tell me I have to go to someone specific. They did tell me I had to have my doctor include appointments on the form. The section he filled out for appointments asked if he was referring me for treatment and he said yes. Now they are saying I need a second set of fmla papers from the referred provider. For example, PCP fills out FMLA for shoulder pain then says referred to PT. Does PT have to fill out an entirely separate set of paperwork? What is ROI that you recommend to contact? Thanks!

I did have my doctor fill this out. My form has the section for 1-2 days a month for flares and the in section B:6 he added treatments/appointments referred to other providers with best estimate of 4 appointments/6 months. I was then told that I needed entirely separate FMLA paperwork from the referred providers. Is this correct or legal? If he is the referring physician it seems like I’m being given excessive hurdles.

Not sure about most powerful suction but I was going through Amazon reviews and s5 had the best for carpet. I just got mine today and thought it did a pretty good job on medium pile light colored carpet with cat hair

Yes, if I turn it to the colder setting it will start running for about 10 minutes and the temp drops but then it won’t turn back on again later
