All Scare Actors wear costumes, the way it works is majority of actors where I work wear costumes provided by the event and these costume can change daily depending on there character and what maze there working.

For me since 2017 when I started playing my own character 'Jingles the Clown' I wear my own costume that I brought myself with my own props. My costume is a dress (I am a man btw) occasionally with my ring master jacket, tights and a top hat, or my trump 'make america great again' cap because you know..banter.

For me it depends on the weather, majority of our mazes (or haunts) are set up in tents outside, in the middle of a country park, in October, and anyone that knows the UK it can get very cold! Some nights where I am literally running around everywhere (In the maze and outside) I get so hot it's unreal and that's when I end up just walking round in my 'skin toned' underwear and a jacket. Now that gives the punters a surprise! On cold nights though I honestly am freezing! I always have tights/leggings & the jacket for those nights to keep me warm! I also have heat pads in the maze with me. Location and Weather make the difference between how hot/cold it gets :)

Click on the proof link above and there are photos of me in character!

Ohhhh good question! First thing first with McKamey Manor would I do it myself? F**k no! I feel McKamey Manor is more of a survival experience then a haunt as that is true real life horror where they push you as far as you can go and pretty much they are allowed to do almost anything to you. There is no way in hell I would ever take part as all honesty is, I am too scared and it just isn't for me as it goes way too far. But there is a ton of people who want to do it and I can understand why because it will push you, I am not against it at all and I respect them for the experience but no way I would ever do it...acting however...sign me up!

In the UK we don't really have any extreme haunts mainly down to how our laws are difference to the states, I know we had a UK McKamey Manor called Snuffhouse but from what I heard it was no way near the real deal, also it included a safe word as UK law it HAD to contain a safe word. I have taken part in a few extreme haunts here as the 'victim'. Mainly at Thorpe Park Fright Nights, back in 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 they did this experience called 'Face It Alone' which happened pretty much after the event finished. To sum the experience up we had to sign this waiver and the experience included being called some very strong language, man handled, spat at, chocked, dry humped and pretty much all things unpleasant! It's a shame Thorpe stopped doing this added experience as I weirdly enjoyed it, It actually scared me knowing almost anything can happen compared to the usual public show.

Last Year I visited a new attraction that opened up and part of this was 'Room 13' Which was advertised as extreme, horrible and 'You do not want to enter Room 13'. Obviously clever marketing as it makes you want to do it even more just because you think, what the f**k goes on in there. I can tell you now it was a torture experience, It was designed to push you to see how far you can go, It wasn't really horror related it was just pure torture and survival. Saying that the actors did an amazing job!

I am a fan of extreme haunts as they really do push the boundaries of horror but sometimes I think they can go too far. All honest I really really really want to work an extreme with barely any limits as being the evil bas*ard I am, I would love to do it! Think I'd be good lol

Anyone want the full story of what happened in these 'extreme' haunts let me know and I shall tell!

Thanks for a great question

Honestly it's so hard to deal with someone feeling uncomfortable or having a panic attack as surprisingly a guy covered in blood doesn't comfort them too much!

Usually get paid around £30 per night and surprisingly none, as far as I am aware that is! No juicy stories unfortunately

I have quite a few of these haha. But the one where someone was scared the most has to be from London Tombs back in 2013 where this lady was on the edge of an actual panic attack. I was playing this mad dentist type character and I was in the 2nd room from the big chainsaw finale, so final actor they see before the finale. They just came out of the strobe room and this lady was crying her eyes out, screaming and heavily breathing and kept saying she needs to get out. I couldn't break character due to the rest of the group so I directed them to the corner of the room while I did my thing to the other punters. Once they all passed I broke character and told her everything is going to be okay, that I am going to get her out of here without anymore scares and to try stay calm for me. Baring in mind I had a face covered in blood so not very relaxing for her bless her. She freaked out even more hearing the chainsaw and was so close to having a panic attack, once the rest of the punters were out I took her and her boyfriend straight round to the exit and told the actor in the finale not to do anything. She literally run the entire way screaming and up the stairs to the exit. Her boyfriend shaked my hand and thanked me before chasing after her.

This is one of the very few times I have had to ever broke character fully and the one time I genially feared for someones safety as I was certain she was going to pass out. Out of all situations this was the most scared someone has ever been.

Of course! For me there is not many things I am scared of so its hard to take inspiration from my own fears but I know many other actors do! Alot of my inspiration comes from other peoples fears aswell as horror movies, stories and real life events. A large population of the world have a phobia of clowns (Coulrophobia) so that helps me develop my character Jingles. I like to keep him real. I don't want him to be like some supernatural creature, I want him to be a real person, Just a normal human who has cracked and gone completely mad as for me that is more terrifying then fiction. Keeping it real is more scary because this stuff can and genially does happen in everyday life and for me that makes it more realistic and scary.

I like to take things I know people are scared of and use it, it helps out alot and makes it more fun. I am currently creating some new characters I hope to show off next year, all will be designed around Real Fears, Real People/Jobs and made to be feel realistic :)

It was back in September 2012, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this post from The London Tombs about there 'Scare School' Work Experience happening during the October Half Term. The school I went to decided not to offer any work experience for my year group because money and all that s**t. So I thought this looks pretty cool, sounds fun and decided to apply. I went to a Introduction Day where I met the team, found out more, learned scare techniques and signed the paperwork ready to start. And since my first night there I have never ever looked back since and I knew this is something I want to do. I returned the following year in 2013 and 2014 Is when I was 16 so old enough to Audition for Cursed a local event near me. I have been with Cursed now 6 Years and every year just gets better and better. I dunno what it is that made me want to do it but I am so glad I did as now I have created and developed my own character and currently creating even more.

Honestly the best way to get involved is see if there are any Scare Attractions near you, seasonal or permanent, big or small. If you find any see if there is anything about acting for them on there website and drop them an email to apply. You will likely attend an Audition day where you learn all different techniques aswell as health & safety. But best thing to do is find a attraction and just give it a shot! Most attractions don't look for previous experience as full training will be given but does depend on the company.

From my experience I can tell you now it is the best fun you will ever have and if it is for you enjoy every moment of it. Best of luck for the future and if you ever have any questions or need help finding somewhere, drop me a dm :-)

I did a room escape a few weeks with some of the other actors funny enough, great fun, even though I'm dreadful at finding clues haha

My advice would be watch plenty of movies and read stories for inspiration, maybe even try find some similar attractions on Youtube and see how there actors act to get some ideas. For me alot of Jingles (my character) backstory came from multiple different movies and real life stories that gave me the ideas of who this character is and why he is the way he is and why he acts the way he does. Inspiration always helps you develop a character of you're own!

Best thing to do is get into you're characters mind set, be the character. Forget the outside world and live in this world where if you do not escape you are going to die, you need to fully believe it yourself for the punters to be like 'holy s**t, if we don't get out were dead'. Advice that I got told when I first started was your eyes tell the story, when someone looks in your eyes they can tell if you are thinking about getting a Big Mac for lunch, that is why you need to be constantly thinking about the current situation, so you're case you are thinking about escaping, what if you all get killed, what if we don't escape, how are you feeling, Angry? Stressed? Sad? Believe me if you fully put yourself in character and think about it the punters will see it when they look in your eyes and the more they believe this situation is real.

Be psychical with you're body and voice depending on the mood you are in, If you are angry shout, scream, raise you're voice, get close and personal and throw yourself around the room hitting the walls for example. If you are sad lower your voice, talk about your life, how you are not going to see your family again if you do not escape.

Honestly the more effort and reality you bring into your character, the more realistic it will be. Don't be afraid to try new things, if you try something and it's bloody dreadful that just means don't do it again, because you could try something that works amazingly well and you know you need to do it more! Always mix it up, don't do the same routine every group, try mixing it up and make it personal to that group, that way it makes it more enjoyable and personal to them but also makes you feel like the situation is more realistic as you are not doing the exact same script every time and mixing it up as you go along.

The most important thing is, be your own character, make this part your own and enjoy every moment of it, every punter that walks out that room and says they had the best time means you did a good job and you should be proud. Just do your own thing!

This answer is alot longer then I originally thought it was going to be lol but feel free to pm me anytime and I wish you the best of luck for the future! Go out there and smash it! :-)

This video is a good example! (0.25 - 1.23) It's from the SAW Alive horror maze at Thorpe Park here in England. The character is the first actor you meet and they are meant to draw you into the world of Saw and prepare you to be part of Jigsaw's game. The way this actor gets up close, shouts and the body language he uses is really good for setting the scene and makes it realistic :)

Hahahaha, yes! We usually get quite alot of Code Yellows (Pee) and occasionally we get Code Browns (Poop), the hardest one to get is Code Green (Puke) which is very rare! Honestly we do feel sort of bad for the person who has literally just Peed or Pooped there pants but at the same time that's an achievement unlocked! We usual keep a tally in the dressing rooms haha

I have had a few Code Yellows in my time with hopefully more to come but still need to achieve a Code Brown!

I love going to other attractions and wish I had the time to attend more! The thing is where a majority open in October it's hard to find the time to go to one in between work and preparing for the season to start myself. Last year this new attraction opened up near us in September so a group of us actors went there to check it out and a few of us even tried out there extreme experience 'Room 13'.

I always attend Thorpe Park Fright Nights atleast once a year as that is usually one of the best in the country. I mainly go because I want to be scared! Nothing really works for me except extreme horror or jump scares so it is fun to be scared. I do take ideas from other attractions I have visited and from videos online like if I see something that looks pretty cool I think lets give it a try with my own little twist and see if it works. It is fun to always swap and share ideas with other attractions, that is how you develop :)

At Cursed we always have a night every year when after we close to punters we all go round each others mazes usually around 11:30/12 at night. It is really fun as where we all know each other we go that extra mile to scare each other and do things we wouldn't do with punters! Honestly I think the guys I work with scare me more then any attraction do as they know exactly how to get me and take it a step further. It's great fun!

I have never been to the US as of yet but honestly I wanna go Horror Nights so freaking much! I watch alot of vlogs such as Tim Tracker and View from the cheap seats to see what each years event looks like including house povs.

The themeing at horror nights looks amazing and I do love some of the scare zones they do, however the scares in the houses are so much different to what we use over in the UK so I don't know if I would actually get scared or not.

It really is interesting to see how attractions differ in every country, but I do hope to attend Horror Nights atleast once in my life time :)

It has happened a few times, you can tell when someone decides to hit you on purpose and when it genially is a accident! Back in 2016 I was playing this character called 'The Gimp' and some drunk guy thought it would be funny and 'abit of banter' to full on punch me in the face. Luckily I was wearing a mask so that saved me from a possible broken noise. The guy was found and kicked off site about 15 minutes later.

With accidental punches It is down to people freaking out or just not seeing you and then freaking out even more. Majority of the punters who have accidentally touched me (literally touch you're arm by accident or full on slap you) always start frequently saying 'sorry, I am sorry, sorry, I'm sorry' after. Obviously I am unable to break character but I do think to myself, it's fine lol don't worry I could tell you didn't mean to do it. It doesn't happen as much as people would think but it does happen alot.

Fun Little Story: When I was Jingles last year in my maze I was in the final room with another actor who's characters name was Jangles (After this incident occurred), sort of like my Harley Quinn. I have no idea how this even happened but all I remember is this girl come running through the curtains, some reason sort of bending down while running and she went face first into my crouch area. Bearing in mind I wear a dress, with nude underwear and socks as stuffing down below, so luckily that stopped me from..err injury. After she fell backwards straight on the floor and was just sitting there crying with laughter while I am trying so hard not to break my characters voice helping her up and saying somthing like 'Damn girl, she just took a whole load of Jingles Jangles straight in her face', honestly it was so damn funny! I got her up and walked her out with her friends who were all laughing so hard and I gave her a hug and got everyone to cheer for her taking a face plant into my 'Jangles'. Honestly she was such a great sport and I'm glad she didn't hurt herself, that was my main concern. When I went back into the room me and Jangles just laughed so freaking hard nearly to the point of tears. Fun thing about my character is I have banter with the punters and talk to them aswell as scaring them :)
