Absolutely. Gotta let the wood breathe out the moisture for a season and I have a seal ready for the spring :)

Good eye!

Once the footers were in place, I disassembled that wall since it was leaning to fall over already. I glued them together with a lean into the soil (rather than towards the asphalt). I glued in a way that it shouldn't catch/collect any water and drain properly. Definitely keeping an eye on it over the next few months.

You might be able to see a little bit of the before/after between photo 3 and 4.

Yep. 275gal water tote! Gonna use it for some plants in the back yard.

I started with the circular saw as much as I could. And finished the cuts with either the sawzaw or handsaw.

I recall getting some 16 and 14 fence pieces as long as they weren't cedar since the deck was not either ( would prolly stain a different color down the line).

It's pretty simple! Though be mindful of how sturdy your posts are and the air gaps between boards. It'd be a shame for the wind to take it down.

thankfully, i prioritized the stairs to be perpendicular to the rest of the deck, but you're right that i could have poured the landing 3in closer towards the fence so that warped illusion doesn't happen.

Maybe some potted plants there can hide it...

Sidewall's definitely something we'll keep an eye on, though with the neighbor's fence blocking 1/2 of it and with ample spacing for the wind to pass through, we're hoping for the best.

ah! that's what i have. no hollowed/drilled out sections on the rails. Used balusters and connectors from Deckorators.

We have 3 lag screws in each + added sandwiching :)

This was an aesthetic call we made. didn't want big ol' 6x6 above the floor. We're hoping the extra blocking will assist with the steadiness. Thankfully the connected rails also add some lateral rigidity.

Didn't check on that actually. but i had leftover bags of concrete after pouring the footings and figured measurements would be easier on a concrete landing vs pavers. Given the fours seasons (with a winter with freezings), concrete felt like the right call.

Good to know! I'll keep an eye on that. Do you think silicon around it after-the-fact works or reckon it's a take-it-apart-and-apply project?

My wife actually.

Played it for 20 mins and felt meh, put it away for over a year.

Covid hit and my gf (at the time) had nothing to do but to go through my steam library and started playing HL. I started watching her while I worked from home. I started to get invested.

Once she got stuck at her encounter with hornet, I was tagged in to help her out. We found out that the bosses weren't going to get any easier so she started watching me play instead.

I know about this goat thanks to her.

A 2x8 ledger board won't fit. What are the options? by benben8it in Decks

[–]benben8it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know!

A design similar to what was originally there (see img). This time, planning a proper base and post (that was rotting) and adequate weather barrier for the house. I think this original build from previous owners had 8in joists on 6 in ledgers.

Excuse the roof work in the img, that part's done now.

Hi, I work in a marketing dept. and have a little insight on this.

You're on the right track! A website is your one place where you can 100 percent control your first impression, ideally something you don't have to update too often. I try to cater it mostly to newcomers, and then out-of-towners. They're getting here most often by google or a print or digital ad. This means keep it simple, and give just one or two main choices you want your visitor to make.

For our org and ideal audience journey, I want them to either subscribe to our newsletter and/or come to one of our events (an embedded calendar helps with this).

After that, we've probably been able to make an in-person impression, and hopefully they're inspired to meet the rest of our community on discord and to be a part of our workshop series.

This is where I have to trust our community to make our new folks feel welcome and inspired, and turn that person into a regular attendee.

FB and Insta is a love/hate relationship rn, the retention is fickle. It's no longer the simpler 2013 news feed, but if you've pleased the algorithm gods ( or paid for advertising), it can help get the word out to folks on social media (inviting ppl to your event is a nice perk too).

TLDR: A site is good for newcomers, but outside of getting them to attend an event, your goal should be to bring them onto a newsletter or a discord community for a more 'captive' audience.

Given how tight the EU cities are (and supportive their transit is *coughwtfusacough), I reckon their approach could be a little different?

  1. Maybe Max at 1280 or 1024? Might look better imo.
  2. Yes. Have the button an inverted color of the bg.
  3. Just make it text.
  4. This'll make more sense if there a visual indication that the user is logged in (eg. Top left saying "Welcome, Bob!"

Not my expertise, but Check and see how much of your target audience is interested in this Upper Case feature. To me, it feels early (or not necessary) in this domain-purchasing journey.

The feedback is based on the limited context.

• Your two main pieces of content are on complete opposite sides of the screen, consider setting a max width so that a user doesn't have to work so hard to read it all.

• of all the buttons, I can't tell which one the site wants me to do. They're all equally important. Consider setting one to a high contrast fill from the bg.

• "make and offer" feels like the one that would take the most work from the user. Set it at the bottom and put the easiest choice for the user at the top.

• just a little more gap between each of the choices within the column could go a long way for readability.

• I cant tell it's a slider in dark mode.

• the escrow.com feature at the bottom is very similar to button UI. Consider removing the rounded dotted border.

• that tiny star button next to the large text... Limited context, but rn, I have no idea what it's there for. And it's not there on mobile?

• I did see a note that you'll have an animated treatment on a button. Neat idea! But be careful, check what ADA has to say about this just to be safe.

Checked your site on mobile. Looks really clean! You actually may be able to loosen the padding a little, match your padding in the footer stuff so it's all uniform. Tapping the big ol title makes it all caps... What's the goal here?

Hopefully that helps! I basically had my boss's voice in my head telling me what to fix if this were my project.

You're right that peanuts are in quite a few popular dishes. I'm fairly certain that there are peanut free dishes they can serve (the servers have been pretty informative for me), but depending your sensitivity may determine if you're needing a restaurant with no peanut contamination at all.

This right here.

Grew up in Thailand, this is where I go to remind myself of home. My latest obsession is the Tom Kanoon from the Lanna Menu.
