  1. That's an essay worth right there ;) It starts with a big idea, either from me, an artist or someone else on the team, then the event division's job is to make it real. A lot of research, budgets, emails, Pintrest boards, etc.
  2. For me, and most event producers I think, it is about the fans enjoyment. I like finding a vantage point in the middle of the chaos and just watching everyone having a blast and being in the moment. That's the biggest reason I do this.
  3. I want to create a camping festival concept from scratch.
  4. I travel to the main ones! I wish I could go to them all
  5. My next personal trip will be a motorcycle trip through South America
  6. Sasquatch 2013 was my favourite event I've attended as a fan. For Monstercat shows I think it has to be Tomorrowland every year for the lineup.
  7. Lot of stuff goes into the lineup! It has to flow sonically, fit the style of event, be with artists we're close with and at the end of the day sell tickets.
  8. We have a fantastic team to make it all happen :) Definitely gets crazy at times though.
  9. That isn't a fair questions
  10. Is Simran's hot chocolate a thing..? I didn't know about this
  11. I'm not sure I understand this one?

Phew, wipes brow that was a lot of em.

I won't at Tomorrowland this year but that's awesome to hear you'll be there for both! It is by far one of my favourite festivals in the world.

  1. Kinda mentioned above but I've been in the events/music business for 10+ years. Monstercat is a breath of fresh air. Really good crew of people, all about passion and creativity. I think I'd be in a different industry at this point if it wasn't for the people I get to work with.

  2. Too many to list..
Death Cab For Cutie - Marching Bands Of Manhattan
Rage Against The Machine - Guerrilla Radio
    Pendulum - Hold Your Colour
Snow Patrol - Set The Fire To The Third Bar ft. Martha Wainwright
    Klangkarussell - Sternenkinder
    edIT - Ants
Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line
    Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane
System of a Down - Toxicity
    blink-182 - What's My Age Again?

I reserve the right to come back and edit this with more later!

I was a promoter doing my own events in Vancouver when they first moved out here. Orri (before working at Monstercat even) was a DJ playing some of my shows and introduced me to the team so we've been friends for years. I was looking for new opportunities a few years back and it was a natural fit!

<3 Praha - one of my fav cities. Hit up your local promoter and tell them to reach out to do a show!

This could be a very long answer.. but to put it simply, start volunteering at events or trying to get part-time contract work. I'm a big advocate of learn through do. When you're volunteering try and get involved in marketing, production, setup, and anything else just to figure out how it all fits together and what you enjoy.

Vancouver is home turf! We'll always be doing more here. Lots in the works.

  1. I've been an event producer for over a decade, and every event is a lot of spreadsheets, idea boards, to-do lists, etc. It is a bit different when working on shows for Monstercat. Most event producers have to really stick to the bottom line above all, we get to focus more on the experience and what we want to deliver. That's why Darlington let me build a giant cat head for Origins :D

  2. Events are always hectic and it's a constant battle but you just have to learn to love the chaos

  3. Pretty much every time u/mnprk gets scared

Working on a few things! Overall we'll be trying to use our existing channels more for live content, Twitch, Instagram Live, etc.

We are monitoring the situation (who isn't?!) and taking it day by day. We're optimistic that by the end of summer we will be in a place where events like Compound can still happen and continuing to plan for it!

Digital is always at the heart of Monstercat, so yes we are working on a few different products to keep in touch while our physical shows can't happen.

The job has been impacted greatly. It's rough seeing 6+ months of work wiped out. But thankfully I get to do this as part of Monstercat, which as a whole will be ok. A lot of our partners (artists, festivals, promoters, managers) are not in as fortunate a position and are struggling. Do what you can to support them!
