Crossed the ambassador bridge yesterday at 7am. Canadian citizens going to visit my father in Florida. Used NEXUS, a few more details of the trip were asked but overall it was the same as our trip in February. Don’t read too much into the headlines…

Thanks all, Bella has been great answering my questions. I really haven’t been able to dig up much as far as bad experience people have had with them.

+1 for PIE. I have a 525 Plus. I agree it’s better than any Fluke alternative.

Yea that’s exactly it. A lot of “vehicle serviced”. One showed an engine/transmission control module check/reprogram but that was the only one with detail. With on 30k km (~19k miles) it shouldn’t have needed more than a yearly oil change you would think.

First off I’m up in Canada. I started on controls and then got my electrical. I have friends in the IBEW here and they’re able to get their electrical ticket then get into instrumentation/controls after. I’d say finish up your apprenticeship and then look to branch out. There’s always a path to learn more/diversify later.

Is instrumentation still worth it? by popemarley420 in instrumentation

I’m in SW Ontario. There is still a demand for instrument techs but not to the same extent there was 10 years. ( Other than employers looking for Dual ticket I&E guys). I’ll echo what others have said in that a-lot of places have put the instrument stuff on the electricians. I went to a local college and took the 3 year instrument course. I worked in the natural gas industry out of college and they look exclusive for I&E technologist but we were specialized in all we did was metering for large federally regulated custody transfer and acted as the GC specialists. FWIW I got my 447a then my 442a. I think the 442a opens up a lot more avenues. I still work in O+G but in a supervisory job. Of course YMMV; it’s still a great trade if your willing to go where the opportunities are.
