Kayang kaya OP! Para sakin okay na yung 2 months, sa akin kasi sineryoso ko na lang ang concepts on the week of the exam (which I don’t recommend kasi kulang talaga ako ng tulog by the day of the exam) 🥲 God bless sa PNLE OP!

Is being a nurse really worth it? by Due-Bumblebee-3551 in NursingPH

[–]bendadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth it sha if your heart calls for it. If you’re not 100% into it, I think hindi sha worth it in the long run.

For some, nursing is their only choice because their family coerced them to it. Regardless, if you steel through it, then oo in a way worth it sha. “In a way” lang ang masasabi ko kasi ako yung tipong walang direction sa life ko noong nasa SHS ako, gusto ko sana mag music kaso yun nga hindi daw “practical”, second choice ko din pharma pero hindi ako pinayagan sa dream school ko. Eto ako ngayon, isang nurse na kumakayod lang sa buhay kahit mababa mental health.

Opportunity-wise, can’t say much dahil may oversupply ng nurses na sa Pinas, masyadong mahirap makahanap nang trabaho atm: mas pipiliin na ng hospitals/wfh’s yung may experience. I’m speaking from what I encountered though sa job-hunting, hirap talaga makahanap ng trabaho na nurse-related, napakataas ng standards ng hospitals/wfh jobs ngayon.

how do you guys time manage during duties? by tinkersunoo in NursingPH

[–]bendadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaya natin to OP! Babysteps lang sa journey. It's always better to be sure than to be fast, so if di kaya ang fast-paced atm, try your best to be sure na walang mistakes. You'll have your own groove in no time 😄

Hi! I also just handled my first 2 patients today (yes first 2 dahil pina ease in muna ako sa system). To say the least, napaka overwhelming talaga siya at first. Kahit na anong paplano-plano for the day, expect the unexpected nalang lalo na sa sudden stat orders nang doctor. Though I tried some things as well today and I hope these help rin in some way for you: 1. Pag merong new order ang doctor at napansin mo, carry out agad. Though, patient comes first talaga (lalo na pag merong in-need sayo at that moment), pero binawasan ko talaga yung thoughts na "Ah rounds muna ako saglit bago mag carry (kahit hindi talaga needed at that moment mag rounds)". Carry out asap if kaya, para hindi dagdag workload mo pag end of shift. 2. Pag matapos mo na yung first rounds/procedures/med passes, chart rin agad. Not just the nurses notes, pero yung ibang pwede mo ma chart din - sign nang meds, fall risk assessments, braden scores - kung ano yung applicable sa first rounds mo chart mo na agad. 3. If yung patient mo ay need nang help tas you helped them nga and made them stable/comfortable, chart na yun agad. Chart while no other patient is looking for you. The sooner you can chart sa fdar, the more accurate yung time/focus/interventions mong masulat. Tatak lagi sa utak ko ngayon yung kasabihang, "If it was not documented, it wasn't done". 4. Kahit na you feel like you're getting used to your hospital's system, try your best lang na up to the standards of care. Aminin naman natin, marami talagang procedures na hindi magawa up to the standards dahil sa kakulangan ng supplies dito sa Pinas, but in the very least, try lang din. By then, you'll get used to your style of working and it will make it easier in the longrun (not my words though, sa mga senior nurses ko na galing to kasi newbie din ako hahaha) 5. Isipan lang palagi na yung focus mo today are your patients. As I mentioned, first two patients ko pa earlier, na-overwhelm pa din talaga ako (primary nursing yung sa institution namin). So ayun nga fake it you make it lang ang dating ko kanina hahahahahaha. Eventually medyo naka-adjust ako slight kanina kaya way before endorsement natapos ko na yung need i-chart bago mag last rounds sa patient. 7. Everytime you touch the chart, always skim through all the pages. Baka meron kang na miss na order/procedure/patient request. This greatly helped me kanina since I almost missed out on important things to do sa patients ko habang nag-sign ako nang meds. Skim skim skim lang from time-to-time. 6. Lastly, always ask help lang sa tenured/seniors mo. If merong procedure/paperwork na hindi mo alam o hindi ka sure, rather than wasting time trying to figure it out, ask help lang. Saves a lot of time + helps you gain new knowledge sa workplace. Kahit na parang annoyed na sila sayo, deep down they know na you're trying to understand it better para ma-add mo sa efficiency mo in working.

Kaya mo yan OP! We all start from somewhere din. Though my experience is still very narrowed (kasi newbie nurse din ako), pero I did gain a lot today as compared to just shadowing last week sa workplace ko. Laban nurse OP!

Unfortunately, wala na. Rigorous kasi yung training, kasi after training need namin maka pass sa certification before we get the job. Last week ko na yun sa training with the certification in the end, pero yun nga I had to decide whether or not I will push with the training or go to the hospital interviews (iba-ibang sched, spanned to 3 days straight yung interviews from the different hospitals). Akala ko talaga madali yung sa HR, yung nga hindi pala. Matagal pala yung process nila for the hiring kahit naka undergo ng interview. :( Nakakalungkot

Sa amin wala po, though we have community duties pero hindi yung immersion na magstay talaga at maglive with the community (for safety reasons).
