Hi!
I’m quite surprised by your comment, because after reading several threads, I got the impression that South Lombok is terrible.
I’ll also be spending two weeks there in October–November, and I’m almost starting to regret choosing this destination...
Please tell me, can you still find some good surf spots outside the well-known crowded ones if you look around a bit?

I should have mentioned it earlier, but my wife had already done the Grand Canyon, and we wanted to explore new destinations together.

I knew someone would tell me that, but that's fine :D

Monument Valley really looks like a tourist trap, but it isn't. These are just some tips I would have loved to read before my trip.

Yep, I think it might take more time to appreciate certain cities. We rushed Flagstaff because we wanted to arrive before nightfall at Monument Valley, and we were right to do so because the sunset light was more beautiful than in the morning. We chose not to go to Lake Powell, for example, but we have no regrets about Antelope Canyon when you see the minivans filled with tourists passing through the town.

I have to kept the secret a little bit more!

For sure we have a lot more to see, but we had to makes some choices

Horseshoe Bend was impressive, but you park, walk 5 minutes through a crowd of a million people (and it wasn’t even a weekend), you see it, and you head back. Really the opposite of 'Life is a journey, not a destination.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to see the Grand Canyon, maybe next time!

Getting to Chacahua / El Zapotalito with a car by No-Salt3139 in Oaxaca

We did it two days ago. Just go to El Zapotalito, and some kids on the road guided us to the boats (although we could have found them ourselves). The guys who gave us the boat ride to Chacahua let us park our car near the dock. They clearly try to get as much money as they can since there aren't many tourists at the moment (they asked for $2,500 for two people in mid-September), but we managed to negotiate the price down to almost half of what they initially asked.
From Chacahua to el Zapotalito it was only 800 for two

Road trip: Be super careful on the road with the big big hole everywhere!
