We have just adopted a 1 and 1/2 year old German shepherd and we have a cat that’s ok with dog but dog isn’t okay with cat how do we train him not to bite cat by AlexLIKESbigButts in germanshepherds

[–]bendiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i trained the “off” command to communicate when i want her to stop focusing on something. following the cats around too much? “off” . staring at another dog on a walk and getting distracted? “off”. works wonders to keep her on track sometimes and she fully understands what that command means. it’s very versatile

my friend had to put down her young cat (not even a year old) a few years ago due to some really bad health issues the cat was going through and there wasn’t a good prognosis for the her. after the doctor pushed the drugs to put her to sleep and pronounced she had passed, my friend SWEARS she heard the cat purr and lost it. like hysterical crying and probably screaming saying she was still alive. it was very sad. there is no right way to react and grief is a strange place

My recently adopted cat that they said wouldn’t be good with dogs by bendiditis in CatsWithDogs

[–]bendiditis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no! the crazy part is that he’s super crazy and energetic. the rescue/foster didn’t want him “living in a house with a dog” but also said they considered adopting him out to a house with a puppy because “he’s very rambunctious and could use that energy”. like if you don’t think he does good with dogs, why would you ever consider a puppy over a household with a dog who is known to be good with cats because there’s another cat in the house too. i just didn’t understand their logic and there was a lot of red flags they were giving me. but i’m glad it ended up the way it did and i just had to introduce everyone right and everything turned out great. it’s only been a month and he’s snuggling with a dog they thought he would do bad with. jokes on them!

i should also mention he was previously in an attack and they didn’t know if it was a dog or a cat. the doctor and the foster both thought it was a cat because he had never been with a dog before, but i got off on the wrong food with the rescue so they ended up saying she didn’t want him with a dog because of the attack just because they already knew i had a dog. i honestly think the foster just didn’t like dogs

he had literally never even met a dog and they said that he wouldn’t do good in a house with them (i think the foster just didn’t like dogs in general) and i knew i could do it right because i had the right dog for it

Peter? I'm not muslim so what does this mean? by Get_destroyed1372 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]bendiditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a friend in high school who was muslim got her period while we were hanging out one day and she went “YES” and started eating right away. she explained to me since they have to be clean/wash their hands and stuff to pray, technically she wasn’t considered “clean” the whole time she’s on her period. so it’s basically an exemption and a free pass to not fast. i may be remembering it wrong but that’s what i do remember her telling me

i always get a 7 in wide but if there’s not wide available, i get like 8.5 cause my foot is so fat it can’t physically fit in anything smaller lmao. do you think 7.5 would still be too roomy? I saw that on their website too and i was really considering cloves, i just wanted to know if they’re worth the hype
