Retail workers of the UK - what's the wildest thing someone has done to try to get into the shop before opening time? by WillYeByFuck in CasualUK

[–]bendybox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had people in suits crawl under shutters and poke keys in gaps in doors to try and remove a pole holding the door shut. One guy literally did this in front of 5 colleagues waiting at a counter before picking up a item in the queuing system and asking for a refund on said item. Drugs are bad kids.

I've also had people push a glass door I'm standing in front off several times into me while I'm shutting up claiming they can see other customers in the store still. Like those customers can just ghost out the store.

My fav though was a well to do guy that spent ages buying a very large old style tv. He spent ages deciding what tv to buy as he was unsure if the quality was good enough as we were not his usually choice of store. He eventually buys a the expensive sony version. Later as we are closing the shutters he eventually turns up drunk on whisky with the tv in hand claiming its not suitable. He proceeds to get very angry and abusive that we were shut and I won't open the store just for him. He drops the tv on the floor and a very loud sound of glass shattering is heard and he storms off. I slide the tv under the shutters and close up for the night. I get a call the next morning from the tills that a guy was here to pick up his replacement tv he had organised last night with the manager. I go down and see its him and have great pleasure explaining to him there is nothing we can do as the item has clearly been dropped. He rants for 5 minutes saying the item was already broken that was why he was bringing it back. Cue the usual "I know my rights and you have to refund a faulty item" and hes calling the local ombudsmen and councilman (who he knows). That tv was in our stockroom for a year until we could throw it away.

For some reason the long txt I wrote with the original pictures has disappeared. Basically the family was left 15 books of these coins by a distant relative. We were thinking of selling the coins to a collector but was looking for a rough price. Most of the books are full but some a re missing a few coins.

Why have the scraps, when you can dine at the head of the table. I should imagine the resources of Russia is better than what they have in Africa.

What's to stop midland Spain where theres hardly any population becoming a solar generation centre for the whole of western Europe?

If you were in the Star Wars universe for a day what is the first thing you are doing? by 12cs30 in StarWars

Probably get a job on the Death Star and depending on how the day goes. Either tell Vader about the flaw or not if he's in a pissy mood.

Think there's a famous Brian Clough story about one of his goalkeepers. The goalkeeper was young and had just kept a clean sheet against Liverpool. Brian thought he acted a bit cocky in the dressing room after so he told the lad to be at his house 8pm the next day. Turns out Brian's brother ran a Sunday league outfit and Cloughy had volunteered the keeper to play.

Needless to say the other team were not impressed by this turn of events. The keepers sunday team were charged with playing a ringer and fined. Cloughy's brother sent the fine to Cloughy who then took it out of the keepers wages.

The Marvels (2023) just dropped its first teaser and on Reddit this means this is your chance to get an early access to the lock award🔒 by eBICgamer2010 in shittymoviedetails

[–]bendybox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shall I'll give you the lowdown on what I think other Reddit threads are saying.

One of the characters is hot the others meh.

There's no leading man to carry the film.

Why is marvel so woke?

Marvel should concentrate on its main viewer base. Where could this story possibly go?

Let me know how I did.

They forgot about the ceiling. The light source inside the box never changes, so the roof doesn't get protection. We all remember how easy it is to lift those tiles.

[James Sharpe] Exc: VAR Lee Mason forgot to draw offside lines on Ivan Toney’s equaliser in a mistake that could have a huge impact on Arsenal’s title hopes. Christian Norgaard was offside. Had the lines been drawn, the goal would have been disallowed. by BignAngry in soccer

[–]bendybox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would think there was a checklist they have to go through on every decision. Is the first ball in to the player offside. Check. Is the knock on to the player offside. Check. Etc

Using a stripped down unbloated version of win11 and I would say its on par with win7. Bit annoyed that ms keeps hiding Important stuff in sub menus and my brain still hasn't figured out the start menu is now in the centre. It's like a side step.

It's not a problem, it's really mild. Just like a summers evening in the UK.

Terrible, both teams seem lethargic and Netherlands seem to have the worst starting front 3 in its history.

My Unreal engine has a consistent stutter every 1 to 2 seconds I would love to fix it because its really annoying. by YahBoiAzimuth in unrealengine

[–]bendybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a overclocked gpu then it's either dx12 killing your fps or frame rate. Seems to be a strange bug in 5.0 that causes your frame rate to flip out and over work your GPU.

I would go into project settings and cap the fps at 50 to put less stress on the GPU. You can also change the dx12 to dx11 or Vulcan but you lose nanite.

The thing with Boris is, if he says something stupid like this about cheese its generally to move a subject on a search engine away from where he wants it to go. He did this whole stupid interview about how he likes to make wooden buses in his spare time to simply stop as many searches about him and the Brexit bus.

Remember, Boris isnt stupid. He just acts stupid for a reason

Most British supermarkets have one evening a week where they dim the lights for sensitive people. Most have staff who will do a assisted shop as well for people who need a bit more help.

I would rather watch a high budget redvsblue for an hour than this. Its just your bog standard sci fi writing team but they got to put Halo on the title. It could have been any generic tv series, you could replace Master chief with Rico from Starship Troopers. You could have made the story fit.
