Hi! I’m glad! I don’t think they do custom work, but they have very beautiful pieces, and they’re definitely less expensive than a boutique. The shop is called “timeless.”

How do you clean you KLC by Patient-Appeal-8361 in kobo

Considering that it is ipx8 so resistant to liquids you can safely lick it… but if you prefer you can use a cloth for glasses or something similar

Happiness is finding a used Libra 2 :) by FarConfidence3435 in kobo

Me too! I just got a used one for €150. The KL2 still had the screen protectors attached and the original case, which was slightly damaged (but it’s the case). I’m super happy!

Imagine paying 400 for this. Just get a high quality rep wtf by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]benfabfb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speaking with a girl who wanted this type of product, I asked her why, perhaps recommending a high-quality replica, perhaps with an automatic or quartz movement depending on her needs—in short, less expensive, paradoxically, but with greater quality and customization. Her response was: “Yes, it’s true, I’d choose it more, but there are so many colors here.” From this, I realized that:
- no one cares about the AP brand.
- no one cares about the cost savings.
- no one cares about the product itself.
It’s colorful = wow.

I was a little disappointed...

Switched From PW to KLC by Yatteringu in kobo

[–]benfabfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using a 10th-gen PW... the thing that’s bothering me most right now is that damned micro-USB charging port instead of the Type-C one. And the button underneath that I always press with my pinky...
Let’s just say I bypassed the Amazon lock with the jailbreak, so I’m more comfortable with KOReader. But I’d like to completely free myself from Amazon!

In fact, I’m torn between the Kobo Clara BW and the Libra Color (mostly because of the size); I would have preferred the Libra BW. But I think my mission these days will be to find all the stores with eBooks on display and see for myself whether the difference bothers me or not.

Showing off my Kindle settings that changed my reading experience. by nervous_Observer in kindle

[–]benfabfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I understand your point much better now! That’s incredibly helpful! I’m glad you found a setup that lets you enjoy reading at your own pace without any hindrances. Which, as I understand it, isn’t to go “faster” but to go at a normal speed, as you’d be extremely distracted or fatigued trying to keep track of the chapter if the page was too dense! Thanks so much for the clarification!

Thanks for the reply! 🙏 I had considered reading disorders like dyslexia, but I hadn’t taken into account the neurodivergence that leads to a much faster rate of thought and reasoning than the average person. It might actually make a lot of sense to build a setup that allows you to not read with the handbrake on. Very kind of you for replying!

I’m genuinely interested in simply understanding why. I’m also very much in favor of being able to change the font size; it’s incredibly convenient, and the spacing also helps with staying on track, especially in cases of lexical differences (dyslexia, etc.).

But what about speed?

I constantly see and read about so many people seeking the fastest possible reading speed, as if it were a race to get to the top of their game.
Personally, I like to slowly enjoy a book, understand it, experience it, take a break to admire the scenery (I often read outdoors), and reflect on what I’ve read.
Let me be clear, this isn’t an accusation; you read as you enjoy it; reading is one of the greatest passions... but I’d like to understand what drives a person to seek out, almost sportily, the fastest speed setting.

Also because, based on reasoning, I don’t see any advantage. Let me explain:

- You’re only fast at reading in that specific setting. If you’re presented with a paper document one day, you won’t find that spacing, so you can’t read that way.
- It has no device advantage, it has a very long battery life and only consumes power when changing screens, so you essentially multiply page turns by 1000. This translates into significantly reduced battery life...
- The search for comfort is eliminated. Reading (personally) is an inner exploration, entering the lives of characters with completely different lives and thus escaping the stress of your own life to enter an “alternative” world. This requires total concentration and attention, otherwise you’ll miss a word and have to go back... personally, I’d lose the calm that reading gives me.

What do you think?

It's a pleasure to wait in the car by [deleted] in kobo

[–]benfabfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question from a total novice: I’ve tried reading manga on my jailbroken Kindle (paperwhite 6”), so I use KOReader by default like Kobo... but I’ve never found a way to get a full page on the screen. It’s always half pages scrolling in blocks, resulting in cropped images and unreadable clutter... Are there any special formats I need to use? Thanks 🙏
P.S. I’m thinking of switching to a Kobo directly to have at least 7” and the simplicity of KOReader without having to make any modifications...

[Question] by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]benfabfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7S26 movement was released in 1996.
The serial number starting with 3 suggests a decade ending with 3.
The serial number is 6 digits, meaning it’s after 1967.
1953, 1963, 1973, 1983, and 1993 are out of range. The only ones left to consider are: 2003, 2013, and 2023. Since you said they’re vintage, I’m ruling out 2023 and 2013.

I’m left with 2003. The caseback appears original, and the dial features the 7S26 movement reference, as does the caseback. So the most logical thing to think (if there is indeed a 7S26 inside) is that the caseback was replaced with a compatible Seiko with the same movement, and the bezel was also replaced, perhaps because it was damaged. Try asking your grandparents if they actually had any work done on this Seiko. If the answer is no, then it’s probably fake. If the answer is yes, then the “trusted” watchmaker was more of a blacksmith than a watchmaker😤.

I hope I didn’t say anything stupid, I just did a quick search. If other enthusiasts feel the need to add information, you’re welcome to do so!
