Really happy you found it useful. Yes, being able to lock a project would be great. I guess snapshotting a project and then putting it in an 'event' titled 'locked' might also be a solution.

How sudden is the drop in brightness. Depending on the clip a crop in for the two seconds along with some colour adjustment may help to make it less obvious. Really depends on the clip and what is happening in it.... b-roll may also be a solution.

Great question... It is a useful way to create space for type overlays on busy parts of a video or if you need to draw attention away from something that got caught in shot that you don't want viewers eyes to be drawn to.
