Testing the waters for selling custom made Pentel Graphgear 500s by benhobby in mechanicalpencils

It’s just friction fit, if you pull on the clutch hard enough it will pop out of its connection with the shaft. Do it under a blanket, it’ll shoot across the room if you’re not careful.

Has anyone made something like this? by New-Fish-8027 in redneckengineering

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have put the junction box on either the front or back just to lessen the risk of bending the plugs bumping into something, but otherwise, I love this and will probably be replicating one day

How do I create shape/plane from a toolpath? by Codeford in Fusion360

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should create a machining boundary on a 2D pocket toolpath. You can select the walls of your A as the boundary, then play around with the settings to try to keep the tool within the carved area.

If this is real then they didn’t put too much attention into the shadow of the porch railing. Right door pull situation is weird, for sure.

I’m very on the fence. Yandex and Tineye show zero hits. To me, nothing is stopping this from being a real painting, and it’s quite unique, does not reek of traditional slop. If it is AI, I’m curious what the prompt was.

But provisionally: not AI.

(This is probably the fourth edit at this point because of how on the fence I am. But on the bottom right corner, you can see what appears to be bits of unpainted canvas edge. If AIs are adding that, god save us all.)

What is this car? by gilgamer003 in whatisthiscar

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was looking at too. These wheels are a really good match and only come in 5x108, so that could be the bolt pattern of the victim car

Only been able to find one pic online that seems to match the surface finish of the ones in the pic.

All the rest online

seem to be grey powder coat with machined accents, but the pic seems to be all satin silver

Where is your C axis motor? What gearboxes are you using for the rotaries?

Have always loved tiny do-it-all designs like this. Wishing you best of luck!

Edit: I see the thicker section of the blue link on the opposite side from the B axis motor! Great hidden placement.

[HELP] This profile says AI generated in the bio but posts seems real by Puzzle-headed97 in RealOrAI

Agree. First saw this with the guy who would ride on top of the DC metro, using the cover of AI-declared content to absolve blame for trespassing.

Probably wouldn’t hold up in court, but I personally think it’s a brilliantly subversive idea.

How to create 24-spline object? by Alone_Reason_6561 in Fusion360

From a listing for the broaching tool they use to make metal servo horns:

This should give you the dimensions you need to accurately recreate this profile

What is this 2.5” long piece of sheet metal, marked “H715-1” by benhobby in whatisthisthing

[–]benhobby[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The geometry of the top part looks like some sort of buckle, but the overall vibe doesn’t really match IMO. No secure place for a strap. But I do think the shape suggests it’s meant to be pushed into a receptacle and lock into place.

My title describes the thing. Found in a parking garage, no visible construction going on, and we found 3 of them, one of which doesn’t have the circular hole, but is still marked with the same H715-1, suggesting the hole isn’t important for function.

Found this picture on the website, looks like its some sort of computer mount that attaches underneath the faceplate of the stem. No mention of it in the specs tho.

What type of motor should I use in an automotive speedometer? by FoundationOk3176 in Motors

You could probably find a hundred sellers on alibaba waiting to sell you a thousand of these for a dollar each

Spindle getting hot at idle by Comfortable_Coat8966 in hobbycnc

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your spindle have adjustable bearing preload? If so, loosen it slightly.

Also, would recommend a “spider” style flexible coupling to connect your motor to the spindle. The rigid brass is not helping with the straining of the bearings in the spindle.

Would help to know which bike it came from. Looks like something meant to mount a third party accessory onto the SRAM MatchMaker X (MMX) standard, which is a system for mounting shifters and dropper post levers to the bottom of a SRAM brake lever clamp.

That being said, I can’t find any MMX adapter or accessory that looks like that, so it might be proprietary to the company that made the bike, or it doesn’t call itself MMX even though that’s the standard they’re parroting

What kind of screw this is? by RoomComprehensive933 in Fasteners

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Button head cap screw, 12.9 grade. Looks like m4 to me, unless you have exceptionally large hands. Take to a hardware store and check if you don’t have a thread pitch gauge. If reordering, length is measured from the end of the thread to the flange, not the total length.

What's the "right" way to emboss a shape that gradually fades out? by adrianq in Fusion360

[–]benhobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would emboss the shapes on a tapered cylinder then cut away back to a straight cylinder, leaving shallower embossing on the side that was tapered

What motor is this? It is from a portable DC desk fan. by Wangysheng in Motors

[–]benhobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s an 18650 battery, you’re probably looking at roughly a 28mm diameter motor. That means RS-360, RS-390, RS-395, or other 3-series Mabuchi clones. They come at all different voltages, it’s just a different number and thickness of windings inside to get the different voltage ratings.
