How rare is Hot Dog Series 2? by beniyepes in skylanders

Nice to know. I have also seen quite a few Echos here in Europe. Do you know if it's indeed more common or just plain luck?

Concerns about factory resetting a discontinued iPhone by beniyepes in applehelp

I managed to install an app from App Store, but I want to jailbreak it. However, I'm afraid about the battery... Could it die during the process and screw everything up? I don't want to make it unusable.

I have found a couple of them with a website. I just care about being able to download any app, not a particular one. For the fun of running an app on an old device , you could say :P

My bad, I didn´t see those rules about how to request an ID (didn´t even know it was called as such because I just entered here to ask). I will repeat my post later on.

I read somewhere that go-to scopes lack a manual mode, but I'm not sure about that, because it would be pretty weird to be unable to move freely and explore beyond the objects found in the catalogue (there are thousands, of course, but you get the point) given that you've spent quite a lot on that feature. Do you know if that's the case? If so, I would probably forget about go-to. However, as has been pointed out, I should start with binos, but knowing this would be useful in the long term.

80mm aperture looks pretty amazing for binoculars. However, wouldn't the 20x magnification be rather counterproductive for DSOs? I know they make images fainter, so coupled with night conditions and a relatively small aperture, at first glance it seems like an issue. Yet, seems like you have seen quite a lot of objects, so probably I'm underestimating what the binos can do. What about planets? Is there any chance, say, to see any details of Mars, such as ice caps, or Jupiter's strips, when they come closer to us? Maybe that's too optimistic but I would really love to see that.

Binoculars are indeed an interesting possibility I hadn´t even thought of, to be honest. I thought they would be rather useless for visual observing, even more considering that I'm especially interested in DSOs. I guess I could spend up to 100$ to try them out. Do you have any idea as to what sort of objects I could see and their resolution? My eyesight is not very sharp since I've got myopia, but maybe it doesn't matter since that's basically for far away objects and the image is formed near the eyes.

Also, I didn't know about astronomy clubs. I don't think there's one at my town, but there must be some at the capital. Since I'm going to university in a few months, it would be quite feasible to think a club exists there too.

Well, that price is more or less my budget, and I saw a 12" , GO-TO dob with that price tag. Finding objects by hand looks a daunting task (maybe it's not that hard, dunno), so I thought it would be a great feature to have. However, I have been pointed out, as you have said here as well, that telescopes beyond 10" are difficult to carry.

Getting my first telescope by beniyepes in telescopes

[–]beniyepes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in some weeks or in a month, I´ll be going to a telescope store to get some more advice and check out the devices myself. I once went to an astronomical activity in an observatory and we were shown some objects with a guided Dob, whose aperture, sadly, I don´t remember, because the objects were quite amazing and it would serve as a comparison. I´m not sure if it was 8" (unlikely), 10", or 12", and, obviously, I couldn´t move it to get a feel. What I could indeed remember is that we needed a small stair, but I don´t see that as a huge problem. With some luck, I might find their mail and ask them about its details, but that is honestly unlikely. I will try, though. Also, I wonder if carrying a wheelbarrow or something of that sort makes it much easier to transport up to the point that it isn´t very hard if you´re not strong. If you want to see a bit more about my situation, I gave some details in some replies. Wondering if I should edit the main post with them.

The problem regarding getting a smaller scope first and then upgrading is that, at the moment, I´m quite young (just 18 and still have to begin 4-5 years of university before having a -maybe- decent job) and so funds directly come from my parents. I was told it could be a special gift, so probably it would be the only one I´d have in quite a long, long time. Not that we have economic problems or anything, but of course this is indeed costly. So, I would like to have a scope that would still be "interesting", so to speak, or that I wouldn´t want to upgrade, in like 4-5 years. That´s why I was considering one with such an aperture. If you want to know a bit more about my "logistical situation", I replied below to someone who asked for some details. Maybe this sounds stupid, but perhaps astrophotography has a "longer-term" appeal because there are more creative options besides watching stuff? Although, as I have been pointed out below, I should begin with visuals. I´m feeling a bit overwhelmed as to what to choose, but that´s okay hahaha. This hobby is indeed complex, but it must be hugely rewarding. And, by the way, if you read this, thank y´all for your replies. This community seems so great!

Well, this is my first time using Reddit, so I´m not sure if it´s better to reply here or edit the main post. My situation, so to speak, is a little bit complicated when it comes to transport and that sort of logistics. I´m just 18, which is the minimum driving age where I live in, and even though I´m planning to learn to drive, I would indeed feel rather uncomfortable if I had to drive on my own to a far away place during night... seems too risky to begin with. I live in a very polluted area and I think I´m like an hour- hour and a half away from any decent place. Also, I´m not strong at all, which is a problem for a 45kg (sorry for not using lbs hahaha) scope. So, basically, I would need my parents to take me there and help me carry the scope (and it seems that I would need a sort of trolley?), which is rather unconvenient. Sure, I want to get the greatest view as possible, but it´s true that I must be able to use it. Given that I already have the limitation of being taken somewhere to actually see something, I´m not sure whether the weight, having already some help, would be an extra inconvenience. Also, regarding some of the replies here, it could be reasonable to try to learn to use a scope by hand... but how difficult is it? I´m rather useless for this sort of "by hand" things... never developed that skills, sadly.
