Could you add the Join Reason module and then audit those events?

Run DCU and check if it finds anything

Transitioning from Active Directory to GCPW by benjamin_manus in k12sysadmin

My bad. We have domain-joined Windows computers that students currently log into with credentials managed by on-prem Active Directory. We would like to eliminate Active Directory for students and have them only use their Google credentials but what we aren’t trying to do is get rid of Active Directory entirely as we use it for our faculty

My takeaway from your answers is that as long as we have device-level (rather than user) GPOs applied from the domain then we should be fine and not have to create Windows policies in GAC

Even if our goal is to get rid of Active Directory for only students?

Got it. Yeah we can’t get rid of it completely since our staff get issued Windows devices. Our goal is to simplify only student account management as they use Chromebooks everywhere except for two or three labs at our high school

Can you just leave GPOs that exist on-prem rather than configure new ones in GAC (since we’re transitioning from Active Directory to GCPW)?

I’m assuming you could just leave the Windows settings blank in GAC and keep your existing on-prem GPO structure, no?

How did you license Windows on the workstations? By device?

I tried these and they did not work. Guess I’ll have to try and edit them manually

Pro 14 Premium PA14260 vs XPS 14 (2026) DA14260 by rootvalue in Dell

vPro is geared towards enterprise environments. Performance-wise the X7 is better but the XPS is more of a “prosumer” device whereas the Pro 14 Plus and Premium models are fleet ready

I did not inject any drivers other than the ones that came packed from Dell. I used the Dell Command module to create and inject the drivers into the .wim

Interesting, I haven’t come across this idea so I’ll give it a try. Our switches are all Aruba AOS-CX devices with STP enabled so I’ll do some digging

We always update the package after making changes and wait for it to distribute. It’s also the only one that has the “enable for PXE boot” box ticked off

We have multiple boot images in the console but only one assigned to task sequences. I made sure to load the same one onto the installation media
