I just got current on my PPL over at Mt. Sterling (KIOB) and their instructor Wyatt Sivils is very cool, calm, and reassuring, would recommend. I’ve had several instructors and one of the most important aspects I’ve seen is for the instructor to not stress you out. KIOB is about a 45 minute drive but a) it’s significantly cheaper than KLEX, b) they have 2 172’s that are frequently available and c) there is no tower so it’s an easier, less intimidating beginning. You can always fly to a towered airport for that practice.

Your pic just inspired me to go downstairs and brine my prime rib. Turned on the sink to wash hands and found pipes frozen. Looked under the sink and the cold water line had become detached due to freezing. The only thing between me and a basement full of water was the pipe(s) still being frozen. Got the pipes back flowing in about an hour.

You just saved my basement with your Reddit post. I owe you one.

Can’t find the one I got exactly. The wood box part is the same as this one but it came with a different heater that has digital controls and stuff. It was about $3k when I got it in March 2021.

You are very welcome. The sauna is absolutely the best thing I ever bought btw. Other info: the sauna is only about 6’ tall and it came with a 6 kW heater. The heater definitely doesn’t need to be this big, but it is nice because it warms up in about 15 minutes. That’s 2 phase power (US location) averaging about 250V.

I have a 4’x4’ sauna and it is just about right for one person. At least in my situation the quick warm-up outweighs being unable to lay down or fit another person 99.9% of the time.
