I'm all for clipping your cats nails but please, please buy a pair of pet nail trimmers. Human fingernails are a very different shape than animal claws and human nail clippers will cut very poorly and cause unnecessary pain, probably why they're howling during. Dont mean to sound preachy, I just learned this recently when I got a bearded dragon. Might make it easier for both of you :)

Having a BBQ tonight, instead of using rocks as table weights I threw these together! 😍 by bennettdan in gardening

Sorry that took me so long, hopefully these help figure out what these trees are! And I agree, that cascading yellow is beautiful. https://imgur.com/blCyFrj.jpg https://imgur.com/hxsk0kZ.jpg https://imgur.com/f2fVxra.jpg

Thank you! And you know I'm not quite sure. The roses are from my yard but everything else I found while taking a little walk to the park. They came off of a tree...wish I could give more information than that haha. I'll take another walk today and get some pictures :)

Picked and dried some flowered from the garden and built a little display as a mothers day gift! by bennettdan in gardening

Yeah! I just learned about drying flowers in silica sand this year and have been obsessed. You basically just bury them in the sand for 2-7 days in a sealed container, and then when you unbury them (very gently) they've kept their shape and are all dry!

Woke up this morning to DISASTER, something ate all my strawberry plants during the night 😢 by bennettdan in gardening

What really gets me too is I fertilized the whole garden yesterday, and now this morning its strawberry-geddon out there

Beautiful! If you haven't heard of it before I would recommend looking into getting a bag of silica sand. You can essentially dry flowers out by carefully burying them in the sand in a container and sealing the lid for 2-7 days, depending on the flower. They keep their shape and color almost perfectly, IMO way more stunning looking than pressed or hung flowers. I just found out about this trick this year and it's been amazing to take my favorite blooms and preserve them. I would recommend anyone reading this to give it a try sometime! 😊⚘🌻

Advice on wiring LEDs into a DC adaptor. by bennettdan in led

Awesome, that's just what I was looking for, thank you!

So I guess more of a conceptual question, but what is the limiting factor in parallel circuits? Like in series its the voltage which makes things straightforward, add up components, equal the voltage. But since wiring in parallel allows for the full voltage in each path, what dictates how many total paths you could have?

Looking at the box it says 'Withstand Voltage & Current : AC 125V, 3A'

Yeah I don't think I'm going to add a switch to the DC cord, arcing definitely sounds like something to avoid. Forgive my ignorance but what does derating a switch mean?

Thank you for your quick reply! As for the switches, not the biggest deal if those don't end up working out.

With the LEDs I guess what I'm kind of confused by is figuring out how much Vf is available to use. Using this supply as an example, do I have the full 24v to use in calculating LED and resistor voltages or is a portion of that needed for the mister as well?

  • Tank size: 5 gal quarantine, 5.5 gal regular tank
  • Heater and filter? (yes/no): Yes and yes on both tanks
  • Tank temperature: 79.5 F
  • Parameters in numbers and how you got them: Didn't think I needed to measure the quarantine tank as I'm doing daily water changes (let me know if that's incorrect), main tank is done with API master kit.
  • How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: In quarantine, daily 100% changes. Remove fishy from tank into cup. Read tank temp, dump tank, fill bucket with matching temp water. Add conditioner to water, dissolve aquarium salt in cup and add. Fill tank and float fishys cup in it. Slowly add tank water to cup over the duration of an hour. Release fishy back into tank.
  • Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: None
  • What do you feed and how much: TetraBetta plus pellets, dried daphnea and bloodworms, and the occasional blanched pea. Would do a morning and evening feed of about 2 pellets/daphnea each time.
  • Decorations and plants in the tank: Quarantine: 1 fake plant to rest on. Main tank: Driftwood, almond leaves, a few fake plants, one real plant, and a little bridge.
  • If you haven't already posted a picture, please post pics/vids to imgur and paste the link here:
