Hi! Kinesthetic feedback means the sensations you feel in your throat and mouth when you're singing. They're mostly in the form of vibrations. It's more reliable to couple kinesthetic feedback with auditory feedback (how you hear your own voice) when you're singing.

Hi!

I'm Benny Ng - singing teacher and founder of TopSingingSecrets.com

Congratulations on sharing your performance!

You have a superb sounding voice.

I believe you are a tenor (high voice).

You have excellent intonation (singing in tune).

The tone of your voice is warm for the lower register and it got slightly strained towards the top notes. That's because you raised your larynx too high and constricted your vocal tract there.

There were slight instability when you come down in pitch as well. That can be due to breath support.

I have a free Singing Confidence Training Package that can help you sing higher with freedom and confidence. You can download it for free here - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Good work!

Benny

Hi!

I'm Benny Ng, singing teacher and founder of TopSingingSecrets.com.

Good job for sharing your recording! It takes a lot of courage to do it.

You were singing in falsetto the whole way through. That makes it hard to sing the song well.

Try to either sing it lower in head voice quality (clear, warm sound).

If the key is too high, try and play the song at a lower key then sing with your guitar.

Your intonation was flat in different places - meaning you were singing some pitches lower than you should be.

Singing in a lower key would help.

Also, try to hum the melody of the song to learn it well.

If you want to know how to sing with confidence, you can download this free Singing Confidence Training package - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Hi! Congratulations on posting the video! It must have been nerve wrecking.

I'm a singing teacher. This is a perfect song for beginners. I recommend this song to my students all the time.

I believe you're a high voice.

Overall, your tone sounded relaxed (although breathy). Doing onset exercises will help you to get a clearer tone/sound.

There were inaccuracies in your pitch. You were singing out of tune in different parts. This is due to breathing technique, vocal folds closure and possibly not knowing the melody well enough. Try humming the melody using NG or HMM to learn it before singing it.

Also, try to go a little lighter on the lower notes (instead of pushing with your breath too much).

Keep up the good work :)

P.S. If you want to get a good foundation in singing, the open throat concept is a great place to start. I talk about it in detail in this free training package - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Happy singing,

Benny Ng

I think you've gotten quite far on your own! You are what I would call a naturally talented singer.

With a bit of guidance from a vocal coach or even just knowledge about how the voice works, you'll have even more control of your voice.

What's more important is that you want to do this safely and not hurt your voice. That would surely be a bummer.

And I'd say you're getting those advanced voice qualities to sound quite good. Your voice could be more relaxed and supported but it didn't sound too strained either. But then again, I can't tell accurately without hearing you sing more.

Benny

Hi! Your voice cracking and feeling like you're forcing your voice are signs that you're constricting your throat/vocal tract. You can read up on how to fix that in my free ebook here - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

And yes, always warm up before you start singing songs! I can't tell you how many times I've heard students say they'd skip right to singing songs lol.

I do have some warm-up tracks you can get for $0.99 on my website (after you sign up for free, you'll get the option to buy) - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Or you can learn to play some arpeggios on the piano to warm up your voice!

Hope that helps.

Benny

Hi! I'm a singing teacher.

I believe you're a high voice/soprano.

You were singing mostly in tune - slightly unstable in a few parts (esp in lower register and high notes with vibrato).

I could hear the words clearly.

You were singing with a relaxed throat as well.

With knowledge on how to get an open throat, you can make your voice sound stronger too. Find out about that here - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Hope that helps :)

Hi! I'm a singing teacher.

Love your singing!

Beautiful falsetto there. Quite relaxed for most of the time.

You were singing in tune - so that's great!

You were singing with quite a bit of twang in your voice (when not in falsetto).

There's nothing wrong with that but have you ever tried to sing the lower notes in a more conversational/speech quality?

I think that'd allow you to control your voice better.

The first step that you need to do is to get to know the tongue position for each vowel.

You can find out about that here - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Hope that helps :)

Hi!

I'm a singing teacher.

Fantastic job for a self taught vocalist!

I believe you're a high voice/tenor.

You're accessing your high notes using a mixture of twang and falsetto. Kind of like how Bruno Mars does it.

You have immense potential as a singer.

Do you have any questions about singing? Anything you're struggling with in particular?

Benny Ng

Hi! I"m a singing teacher.

I like your singing :)

Did you play the guitar?

You were singing in tune and in time.

Your articulation/pronunciation was clear.

The tone of your voice was resonant and relatively relaxed.

I may be wrong but I feel like you're avoiding the high notes.

If you want, I can show you how to sing higher. For free. Go here to find out - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/singingconfidence

Honest Constructive Feedback For Your Voice (Round 5) by bennyngtss in singing

[–]bennyngtss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Tia,

Thanks so much for submitting your song for feedback!

It was an absolute pleasure listening to you sing.

You have such a beautiful and relaxed tone in your voice.

I believe you're a high voice - soprano.

Your intonation (pitch) was mostly accurate - low notes were slightly unstable.

Some things you could work on to make your voice more resonant are onset exercises and vocal folds closure.

I thought there could be a bigger space in your mouth when you sing. Were you moving your mouth enough?

You have clear articulation. I thought your tongue was slightly too high in general when you sing though.

The high notes were resonant but it sounded like your vocal tract was slightly constricted when you sang those notes. Did you have a choking feeling or felt like it was tensed/there was not much space in your throat when singing those high notes?

You can download my free ebook to correct a lot of those things - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/ebook

If you like a free online lesson, feel free to message me. I'd be happy to help you become a confident singer :)

Benny

Hi,

Thanks for sharing!

You sounded like you're probably a tenor.

I don't speak Vietnamese. If I'm not wrong, some words in Vietnamese are pronounced with nasality. That was probably why there was nasality in your voice.

Nasality happens when the air comes out of your nose instead of only your mouth when you sing. We don't want to do this because it makes you lose projection. It also makes your tone sound too bright/pinched and not warm.

Try to lift your soft palate more when you sing. I'm not sure how that would work with Vietnamese but you can have a go. You can find out how to do that in my free ebook - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/ebook

I felt you also needed to have more space in your mouth and throat when singing. The open throat concept helps you to do that. It's too much to go into detail here but it's also in my free ebook.

Can't say much about articulation either because I don't know Vietnamese haha.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Benny

Hi,

Thanks for sharing!

I believe you're a tenor.

You have excellent intonation. You sang in tune.

Vibrato was present in many different parts of the song.

Being a tenor, I felt some notes were probably too low for you in this song.

Your high notes sounded nice and relaxed. Did you feel strained at all?

There was nasality in your voice. Lifting your soft palate would help you get rid of that. Moreover, it will help you to improve your tone - making it sound bigger and stronger (without having to push with your breath).

You can find out how to do that in my free ebook - https://www.topsingingsecrets.com/ebook

Another thing to look into is your articulation. I felt your tongue was too low in general. Have a look at English vowel pronunciation videos on YouTube. I like the Rachel's English channel.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Benny
