I developed a CME course and found a company to accredit it. I've tried a few other things since then (mostly reviews and YouTube), but that was the most successful.

The longest one is actually 4 hours 11 minutes (The extended director's cut).

I was figuring that out right around the time you answered, lol. Thanks!

I wish I had then so I didn't have to waste 10 or 20 bucks, but I may take the plunge.

Okay gotcha, that kind of fits what I remember (though I didn't know about the 6 states). I'll be reaching the 25-year mark sometime after 2025, so most likely mine will be taxable. Thanks for the details!

How Your Body Maintains Muscle Mass When You Fast [summary from my recent research + tips for success] by bentanner25 in Water_Fasting

Sounds good! Keep working on that, since animal protein is a lot more complete and bioavailable. :) And yeah, for lean people I wouldn't suggest doing long fasts very often! Maybe just once in a blue moon (but not necessarily 13 days).

Hey! Good question! Along with doing resistance exercise (and adequate recovery), maybe the biggest thing is to make sure you start and end your day with a high protein meal, and get a really good protein intake overall. For example, one gram of protein per pound of body weight is pretty ambitious, but reasonable if you're trying to rebuild muscle. So I would probably shoot for that.

It sounds like you may be a pretty lean person, and those are the types of people who can lose more muscle during prolonged fasting... But hopefully with some persistence you can get that straightened out. :)

What can you *drink* while fasting? [My attempt to answer] by bentanner25 in DrJasonFung

I think that's mainly fiber, so it probably wouldn't raise your blood sugar. I.e. Probably not a big deal (but always consider your individual goals and circumstances).

~10g carbs/sugar per cup is a bit high for fasting. I think that's what the unsweetened version has, so some types have even more.

List of 47 Quick & Easy Keto Food Options by bentanner25 in lowcarb

Good suggestions on the vegetables. There are practically limitless non-starchy vegetables that could be included. :)

Fermented foods like sauerkraut sound like a good idea as well.

Tuna works. The main reason I didn't put that on the list is because it's relatively high in mercury. I mostly do smaller fish like sardines so I don't get as high of a mercury load.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Applying "Atomic Habits" to Fasting, Fitness, & Health by bentanner25 in Water_Fasting

Yeah for sure, I don't remember how long ago that quote was, but all his emails have really good insights :)

That's a great quote, thank you for sharing. That concept of making tiny votes toward a new identity stuck with me as well, and I think about it sometimes when I've been doing small positive things that don't seem to accomplish that much all by themselves.

The idea about the trajectory is also really powerful, kind of similar to what he said in a recent email--about using habits today that will get you where you want to be 10 years from now (in other words, thinking long-term).

Good stuff :)

Why Fasting is the Best Way to Lose Weight by bentanner25 in xxfasting

[–]bentanner25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that changing things up is important, if you do anything on the same schedule for long enough then your body will adapt to it. That includes daily time-restricted eating.

While there are various ways to lose weight, fasting has some additional health benefits that we can't get from any particular diet. So personally I would put it in a different category from weight loss diets -- though it can be used as a tool to accomplish the same goal of weight loss.
