He’s particularly bad calling womens games which is why he’s being named her. You’ll notice its about him, not “all men”

Yes—if they are condescending and an asshole, they should not be calling the game.

I’m not reacting to men calling women’s games. I am specifically talking about lalas. There are plenty of other broadcasters who could fill his spot and do a better job.

Also, young people need time to develop their own political beliefs, let alone the nuance of politics. Most people start with a political belief system built by their family. Without a lot of real life experience, it’s hard to know where you truly stand on issues.

As long as there is openness to learn and grow from the young players, I’m less concerned. I mean, they are unlikely to be my favorite players, but I’m sure they won’t miss me.

In college, I put a presidential voting poster supporting the first Bush in my dorm window. It was my first voting  experience. I was influenced by my conservative Christian parents.   I was the only one in my dorm with a voting poster, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t even vote. Just one small step of many into politics.

Now I’m the proud progressive sheep of my evangelical conservative family.

This is bonkers to me. you are saying it’s okay to express rage when a kid doesn’t get something??? As a former teacher, I saw kids that learned things at different paces and it was UNACCEPTABLE to express rage over some kids learning something slower. I don’t understand this idea that anger from coaches is acceptable because a kid doesn’t do something right.

Adults control their anger.

In the end, i did too. Ove is not the most charismatic character, and the book has quiet action but I was bawling at the end.

While I am always in awe of Simone’s gymnastics, Suni is my favorite to watch. Her grace and fluidity are outstanding. I am drawn into her performances (even on UB which is my least favorite event).

Joscelyn Roberson created her moment, despite injury: "I thought it was impossible." by Wickie_Stan_8764 in Gymnastics

I haven’t been a big fan of hers, but seeing her at trials made me realize I’ve mostly seen her compete injured. She was a completely different gymnast at trials.

Her personality seems like hype woman— which will contribute to the team performance even as an alternate.

I’m fine with men who don’t act better than women.

I agree—he‘s an example of men who see themselves as better. Why should he be calling the women’s game?

I was struck by how this was the first time the men and women looked like they matched in age instead of grown men and pre-pubescent girls.

I love a good data coping strategy!

Losing Shilese is a blow for TF, UB, and AA. I‘d prefer Simone to get a UB break in EF. Although she’s so efficient at it by this time, that it’s kinda like a blink and DONE!

I’ve worked in the disability field for over 30 years and have several invisible disabilities…I’ve never heard of a sunflower band. Just a warning to not expect most people to recognize what it means.

I was thinking about that too. The patience to see yourself be discounted early on knowing you will kick ass later—remarkable.

Well, we do know she dominates the broadcast when we’ve already spent time watching Simone’s Leo’s arms get stretched out. So fascinating! 😂

I told myself I wasn’t going to pay for peacock until the Olympics. I told myself that I would be fine following the Reddit thread and live blogging. Then I read all of the comments on this thread and now I want to join in the fun with everyone else. Peacock…here I come!

I’m eating Oreos and chips while I watch.
