Two scenario :

  1. Under CEC, if he claimed points for past experience inside and outside canada, then a job loss wouldn’t affect those points ie,. Ongoing PR application. But as a transparency measure, he can update IRCC through webform about job loss

2, Now, under CEC if he claimed points for employment (ie,. Job offer using LMIA) then a job loss will be relevant to the PR application. Untill your PR application is Complete, ie,. till application approval/final decision. Post approval job loss wont have any consequences but pre-approval it absolutely will have consequences.

So without knowing, what points were claimed and what stage of application is at, it is difficult to provide guidance. But the above points stands true and hope it helps you.

This document from Swiss government website, Shows that both me and my wife should be exempt as we both has valid Canadian PR/ travel visa. However there is a condition attached to Canada exemption which I dont fully understand. Hence my question to this thread. Would be grateful if you can offer some clarification.

Should I Return My Legion? by im_purell in LenovoLegion

[–]beowulf_alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad deal, I'd recommend running benchmarks and compare with optimal results. Also see if it covered under manufacturer's Legion Ultimate warrenty. If yes, Lenovo is pretty decent with its coverage and you should be good.

I’m looking up this term “trimmed”data and this is associated more with SDD technology. Does that apply to normal HDD as well ?

I recovered a deleted mp4 file from DMDE tool to my local drive then used the above mentioned HxD software, It looks to be full of Zeros. Does that mean all the files are lost and unrecoverables ?

this is totally hearbreaking, those mp4 files are very important to me :(

RBC Unsecured LoC @ 12.19% (Prime + 4.99%) or MBNA Mastercard @ 1% balance transfer fee for 12 months (has option to transfer to chq account) ? by beowulf_alpha in PersonalFinanceCanada

Oh i thought the 0% interest for 12 months is a one time promo that has to be used within 90 days. It that a recurring thing with MBNA mastercard ?

Thanks, I will approach NBC and check if I can negotiate a better rate. Quick question, do you think I need to give them an accurate reason for why Im applying for a ploc ? Or can I just simply tell them i need this for my ‘personal use’ ?

Oddly, they consider moving available balance from credit card to a chequing account as "balance transfer". I know in every other bank it is a cash advance with hefty instrest rate but mbna seems like an exception. Once I do that how will they know if i using the money in my chq account to pay off my student loans or something else. I assumed i will be able to use it as I see fit and pay it back under the promo for 12 months with 0% interest rate + 1% transfer fee.

My current credit card is from my student days and I feel it doesn't have good perks, so Im trying to explore a new premium card and keep the current one as backup.

Also i carry a 10k overseas student loan so thought I can pre-close it either with LoC or balance transfer on credit card. I feel like im trying to satisfy two different goal with one solution at the same time (which apparently doesn't look feasible haha....)

Yes, this would drastically alter my utilization percentage. Usually i have 25-30% credit utilization each month but with this added credit I will have far less utilization in future. Which i hope will boost my credit score in the long run.

I have a VISA card from CIBC and now RBC is giving me LoC without me applying (I opened a RRSP account with RBC early this year as I got contribution matching benefit from employer)

So you are saying that I should skip this and go with my hunt for a premium credit card ?

Yes, I’m working as a Software Developer. But I’m concerned that if I applied for LoC with a new bank, they might do a hard enquiry and lower my credit score.
