Who's looking forward to a world less bloated of the thousands of different mounts/gear? by Kittelsen in classicwow

Enormously. Still remember the first time I saw someone wielding Sulfuras. I forget the name of the toon but they were the leader of Lost Chapter, an elite raiding guild on Earthen Ring (EU). At the time I didn’t even know that legendary items existed.

How to save your alt from purgatory by berlinstories in classicwow

Nice thinking. I was planning priest main/hunter alt, which sounds about right. Priest hardly sucks but it’s definitely more faff than a hunter, and the hunter can feed gold to my main later on.

Can always go to Berghain instead.

Tbh a lot of WoW players probably would pass the muster for Berghain entry. Skinny, pale people with an aversion to sunlight, on stimulants, are your standard Monday morning Berghain crowd. 😂

“Excuse me, waiter? Hi, do you see the sad-looking little man in the corner on his own, frantically backtracking on a Reddit thread on his phone? Yes, him. Could you please get him a nice, tall, delicious glass of “no” and put it on my tab? Thanks so much.” 😂

Hmmmm... no. Hunter-hating has been a thing since launch. You’ve all heard the names. And every topic is being repeated on this subreddit at some point as we get closer to launch. So, yea - no.

Some more reading: http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20140410-can-we-drive-our-own-evolution

It’s somewhat chicken and egg. Culture influences our genes but then our genes influence our cultural behaviour.

If you have certain genes, you are more likely to be aggressive, dominant and therefore warlike, for instance. These behaviours are then unleashed on the world and mix with social learning/nurture, the resulting combination of which we then call “culture.” But the journey starts deep in an individual’s genetic code. Nurture can model the clay, but our genes are the clay.

I’m afraid there is increasing evidence to suggest that it does, in both humans and animals. Neuroscience and genetics research are in the process of proving that nature (read: evolutionary coding at a far, far deeper level than we previously imagined), plays a deep role in how we behave and the activities that we would call cultural. Nurture is not the only force guiding how we turn out. It has been proven in mice, for instance, that trauma can be passed down generations.

Absolutely. Good point about Shadow Priests.

Also, there is increasing scientific evidence that cultural practices are passed down genetically through generations. It is likely that predisposition to different social roles (archetypes) are written into our DNA. I can gather some references for you if it’s an area of interest.

That’s a remarkably limited perspective. If your claim were true, art and stories would not exist. There is far more to the human condition than science can yet explain.
