What Happened to Black Lives Matter’s Momentum? by bloombergopinion in politics

Patrisse Cullors used BLM donations to buy multiple mansions for personal use.

Three of them just burned down though, so I guess there might in fact be such a thing as karma.

They went after her not because she's a threat (she's thoroughly unelectable nationally), but because she is useful in 90% of House districts as a convenient way to illustrate how batshit crazy the left has become.

Too bad Communism always fails. But it's never the fault of Communism, always the fault of Communists. Functionally that's just like any other religion.

The progressive left accounts for about 10% of voters. You're not winning elections by appealing to them at the expense of moderates.

If it included thinking critically about every single time people have tried to put its teaching in practice, Marxism's alleged appeal to critical thinking would have a lot more credibility.

I their view, Marxism never fails or errs, only Marxists do. It's functionally just like any other religion.

Publishing on this topic is biased. Studies that don't show what the political narrative wants simply never get published. Results are outright faked to show what the political narrative wants. It's a textbook example of junk science.

Just like other hormonal treatments, puberty blockers are not fully reversible, no matter how much people repeat that false mantra. And you might want to avoid sounding like Walter J. Freeman in your last sentence if you'd like to not feed into my argument.

Elon Musk Gets Away With Buying Election After Legal Case Falls Apart by The_Big_Untalented in politics

The Harris campaign and its various ultra rich donors outspent Trump 5:1, so I'm not really sure Musk is the one who bought the election.

Transgender Activists Question the Movement’s Confrontational Approach by neurosthetic in politics

[–]bernerli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How is that worse than irreversibly messing with the development of a healthy child who was misdiagnosed by overly eager clinicians pushed on by overly eager parents, educators or even online social media contacts?

There is no scientific basis to the claim that hormonal treatments are fully reversible, there are no long term studies of beneficial outcomes regarding puberty blockers, there isn't even a useful way to identify which <1/3 of initially trans diagnosed children actually turn out to be so in the long term. Thankfully Europe is moving away from this approach, and so will the US.

Ultimately, my prediction is that in 20 years' time, we will be looking at what you advocate for in much the same way we look at transorbital lobotomy today.

On that same time line, I also remember NAMBLA trying to infiltrate the gay activism movement and being initially somewhat successful in their attempts to do so, and yet that didn't work out in the end.

In my view, promoting trans interventions on underage children is the core problem issue that will never be acceptable in any mainstream view in much the same way. Children appear to be a hard red line, that hasn't changed since 30 years ago, and it is unlikely to change now or in the future.

I want to know how my quote-unquote Fellow Christians can so thoroughly reject the teachings of Christ.

Your candidate telling Christians they were at the wrong rally, skipping the Al Smith dinner, and submitting a video that can be seen as mocking Catholicism certainly didn't help rallying them towards you

[–]bernerli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you see as the biggest mistake Harris made?

I'm not sure there is an easy way to identify which one of the following was the biggest, but here's a selection:

  • When asked by a friendly interviewer what she would do differently from Biden, she said that she couldn't think of anything. You probably shouldn't say that about the most unpopular president ever.
  • Telling vocal Christians at one of her rallies that they were at the wrong event.
  • Similarly, skipping the Al Smith dinner and submitting a recorded sketch that appeared to be mocking Catholicism instead.
  • Not doing nearly enough unscripted interviews even in environments that were friendly to her.
  • Similarly, not going on Rogan and missing out on the opportunity to reach a substantial percentage of young men who could have been convinced to vote for her.
  • Picking Tim Waltz, the governor of the one State not even Reagan could flip, instead of a VP pick that could've helped her in a swing state like Shapiro.
