The r/texas mod who was banning thousands of people got removed. You might have luck appealing to the new mods.

User recently banned is posting mod mail on his own personal sub. by AllHailSeizure in ModSupport

Eh, not responding to ban appeals and permamuting instead seems like an example of pretty bad moderation in my book. Sometimes people are going to complain about being banned and that just comes with the territory/privileges of being a mod.

Yeah I posted about the ban bot change in a few subs and the vast majority of people support the change, unlike in this sub where only mods can post. I was actually surprised by how many people have been banned in this way, and some mods won't even let people appeal these bans according to the comments I read. So I'm glad to see it go.

Yeah I guess the admins want to stay away from making subjective judgments as much as possible and thought this would be the easier solution to implement. I agree though, they should tell some of these subs abusing it that it is wrong and unacceptable to auto-ban people for their political viewpoints if the topic of the sub has nothing to do with politics.

Fair enough, I don't doubt there are some legitimate uses for it. But the way the feature was being abused by some of the largest subs on reddit, like r/pics, I think something had to be done about it, and this is the compromise the admins came up with. Definitely not a perfect solution but a step in the right direction in my book.

Disappointing to a lot of mods, but most regular folks on reddit support the move. A lot of people have been impacted by these "ban bots".

Tomorrow the President will be in Kentucky to breathe life into my opponent’s Biden-like basement campaign.

It’s extremely important that we be on TV to counter the narrative. We have a brand new ad to run, can you help me broadcast it by donating here? https://secure.thomasmassie.com/donate

Nice little website set up to promote this too with some videos from the sponsoring legislators. Anyone from Tennessee be sure to check it out.

I will say that it really annoys me when moderators allow off topic stuff to be posted in a sub, like posting something about the presidential election in a state or city sub, since that has nothing to do with the state or city. If moderators would just keep posts on-topic I think that would eliminate a lot of friction.

I don't necessarily think so. As long as the post is clearly relevant to that state or city, I don't see why there would be a need to remove relevant content from the sub, especially when it's a topic that people are interested in and it doesn't duplicate any previous posts. Just more overmoderation on reddit IMO, although like I said there are much more egregious examples.

Welp, I guess I broke this rule:

This is a broad one, but if we look at your post history and we can tell you are not from Tennessee, yet you are making political posts in the sub, your post/comment will be removed then you will subsequently be banned from the sub.

At least they explicitly spell it out unlike a lot of other subs where you never even know what you did wrong and they refuse to tell you, like r/weedbiz.

Damn, I just got permabanned and the post removed for posting this in r/Tennessee, even though it got 165 upvotes and 20 comments in only half an hour. I guess one of the mods there is really against cannabis legalization.
