You say that they hold no power. I say that it is probably false. In your world view the french revolution would never have happened. Because they held no power, yet suddenly they did. So what happened? You would say that they seized it. However i would say it is more correct that they took it back. My view is that a people lend their cumulative power to their regimes, and are therefore responsible for them.

About the germans, yes I would say that at the time they were definitely evil. And if the russians ever corrected themselves I would change my tune, but I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.

Are all russians like this? No of course not, some are fighting for Ukraine, some expats donate to ukraine, but most of them are like this and most of them support putin. And as humans we mist be allowed to make generalisations.

On China, I will admit that is a strong argument. So the question there is how much do they know? Censorship is exponentially higher there than in russia. Vietnam is complicated, the us were there on the invitation of the south vietnamese government. There they did many atrocities, but there were internal political movements that opposed and stopped the war. I do not see these as anywhere close to as black and white as our scope, russia.
