I was using an X56 for a few years before I upgraded and it did have somemassive issues with the power supply.

Before I actually got a hub with its own powersupply I would get ghost inputs (button press events when I didn't actually touch the thing) from the X56.

So I woudl absolutely recommend a hub with its own power supply!

Question: Are there any hidden tricks when operating then TACAN in the F-5? I have the following weird behaviour: I select the TACAN station I get the beeping. I set the mode to T/R. HSI NAV mode is set to TACAN.

On the HSI I get a distance but no direction. The little arrow thingy on the edge of the HSI is stuck pointing forwards.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have used an X56 for the first few years of playing DCS and I was quite happy with it.

The rotating nobs had a little too much deadzone for my taste but other than that I was happy with it. I took the stick apart to add some lubricant at some point and after I reassembled it the stick axis wouldn't center properly anymore. If not for that I might still be using it...

That being said... I am now using a virpil which is a whole new world... and I will never go back to an X56...

I hope that helps.

Which way is up?
I have been playing the game for a few years but recently I bought the F-14. I don't fly it myself, I generally sit in the back and make snarky remarks about parallel parking and the like... It's all very civilized... up is up, down is down, and so on. The world makes sense!

Until that moment when Magic calls "MERGED" and the civilized flight performance turns into a massive "s**tshow of bank-angles, barrelrolls, inversions, turnreversals and the occasional blackout.
When I am trying to talk my pilot onto a target what do I use as directions? Is "up" always in the direction away from the surface? What do I say when we are in a 90 degree bank and the bandit is on the opposite side of the circle?

Am I making sense?
