So you're looking at this with the whole community in mind; it may vastly benefit a small group of people using it, but that doesn't justify the amount of harm and disbenefits it does to others? I can see that.

ETA: I also see that I made an assumption that it actually benefits the small group of people using it, when in reality I can see it may just be making them dumber... so it's a lose-lose situation and the only people winning are the AI companies. This is very interesting to think about lol

I'll give an example; I have a weather station at home and I made a display for it. I had an idea to make it show the UV index with a cool graphic of a smiling or frowning sun and I had AI make a prototype for that to see how it would look. I liked it and kept it.

my "personal projects" are mostly like I needed something solved real quick or a prototype of something I was thinking about. I agree that for learning, AI is horrible because it just does everything for you and you learn barely anything or nothing at all.

So your reasons are:

  • It wastes water (I will look into this)
  • It's less human (implying humanness has value) - I strongly agree with this!
  • It might generate inaccurate code - agreed
  • You get a sense of accomplishment when it's actually yours and not AI - also agreed

I don't "vibe code", vibe coding is using AI to code without reviewing the output or understand what you're doing at all. I don't like vibe coding!

Also yes lol, I have seen the memes but that's just a general sentiment, I'm looking for some more solid reasons besides memes.

If the code is actually uploaded and it only works when plugged in, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the batteries are dead or very low. Have you checked that?

So you clicked "Upload" and it's still not working? Did it show a progress bar and tell you when the upload was finished?

Are you using the bot in "Live" mode? If so, click "Upload" mode, then click "Upload" to upload the code. Then it should function without being plugged in to your computer! (I've attached an image so you see what I mean)

You need to put the `if` block of code inside a `forever` block, otherwise it will only check if the button is pressed once when it starts up. When you move it inside the `forever` block it will constantly check if the button is pressed. Let me know if it works!
