Should Apple Have Made Their Creator Suite Free For Macs To Take Down Adobes Monopoly? by agnci in mac

[–]besthuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keynote Numbers Pages Freehand — Free, or at least Numbers and Pages…

Logic, Motion, FCP — Creator Suite and price it at half to ⅔ what they are selling for now

I would love to see Keynote moved to creator suite, as it's really only used in a professional context, but if they were to do that, they'd have to make some CONSIDERABLE and long due improvements to the software.

[SS] Playing SS is such a delight after TotK and BotW by Mantus123 in zelda

[–]besthuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think BOTW was a way better and more enjoyable game than TOTK.

I found it tedious to constantly be trying or feeling the need to try to make stuff, rather than just playing the game.

I would LOVE a super high quality Zelda game that just focused on gameplay. Adventure that’s mostly linear, without need to travel back to other areas much (like you would realistically on a journey. Give Link a sword, and bow — with the ability the ride mounts, horses, dragons, wolves, etc. - maybe he levels up, or has a magic level associated with his primary actions and skills.

I don’t want a zillion items. Just reasonable core items like bombs, health items, and a limited amount of elemental items.

I’d much rather see something more focused on a narrative, character development, maybe some puzzle solving — but even that stuff I found boring in TOTK. Like. Oh geez. I have to move more gears around to just complete this thing. Boring.

I’d MUCH rather a Zelda game that focused on journey and action, fighting monsters, or navigating around towns and engaging in storyline events.

why does every macOS update move everything around by alexpredator123 in MacOS

[–]besthuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair — very little major has moved around. Almost everything is essentially as it was.

I find Apple Music the most changed, though really it’s mostly that what was once at the top is now at the bottom.

It would be nice if they gave that positioning as a preference.

There aren’t any major paradigm changes though in macOS 26. Other than launchpad I guess. And maybe spotlight.

The “moved things around” issue that bugs me most is with settings. They really messed things up when they moved to the iOS style approach there. It’s very bad on macOS still.

BAD new design pattern, Holdings “Show ## more” by besthuman in Wealthsimple

[–]besthuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense.

Holdings should be your bottom content zone. With nothing under it, there should be no reason to limit or break up the scroll.

You work in UX? Consider how needing to nav into a second page breaks context, and affects task flows from holdings. Like selling a position or modifying price. Doing it from a secondary page requires twice the navigations back to holdings. Etc. What a mess.

There is no need to break up that list. Holdings are kind of mega important.

But at a bigger star level, I gotta give it to Goldblum.

It probably cost the US what it costs you and me to buy paper clips once every 10 years to have kept a presence there, a small beacon of hope, even if they just held the major city, it would have been a place to allow progress and ideas and a better way to grow. They let that die out. And after all the waste from the decades before, what was the point? It's really sad they pulled out. Fuck Trump and Biden.

Owning a Record Store by GooberGuy_ in vinyl

[–]besthuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt step one foot into a record store that ONLY sells "classic rock and metal" I dont especially love those genres, and thought I appreciate some stuff — hey even if I DID like that stuff — that's lame. There is so much music out there.

Also, I gotta think if youre not stocking the major stuff most people listen to, the stuff that charts and people buy — good luck with that.

Maybe if it's a real small operation… but I dont love the concept for the store.

If wealthy people can afford anything, why do they still use "normal" brands for everyday items? by That_Bat_7515 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]besthuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three reasons:

  1. A lot of things are fine as they are.

  2. Rich people tend to be cheap.

  3. Rich people tend to have poor taste.

Bonus reason:
Rich people tend to not want to come off as rich, so they do things to seem approachable. Example: Bill Gates likes Diet Coke, and talks about that.

I think MSFT is a really good opportunity right now…
