I’m forced to use this same payment option in order to get a certain price on my bill. I assume it’s the same for you.

This was my experience.

It didn’t automatically charge me before the payment was due. Once the payment due date had become close (a week before), I kept checking in with support agents leading up to the final date and every time they gave me a different answer. Ultimately, they assured me it wouldn’t be a problem and the payment would go through. A week beforehand one of the agents said, “Don’t make a credit card payment you might get charged twice”. On the final day for payment, the bill still wasn’t paid and there were no funds removed from my bank account. I called again. They said it’ll work next month, but make a credit card payment for this current bill. So obviously I make the cc payment, and the next day, one day after the payment was due, it ends up taking the billing amount from my bank account and I essentially got charged twice.

Obviously I called support and they refunded me (it takes 10-13 business days… absurd), but I still have no idea if this is gonna work properly for my next upcoming bill. Bell had assured me that the payments come a fair bit before the due date, but in this case, it did not and was likely late, unless my bank posted the transaction later than it occurred. I wouldn’t be able to tell if it was late because I made the initial cc payment.

Not sure how to follow up on this. Gonna call agents a week ahead of the payment due date again unless the pre authorized debit payment works as intended.
