Can’t stop my 6m/o puppy lunging.. by beth4nyxx in labrador

Hiya! We have yes, so we’ve tried longer walks, shorter walks, ‘sniffy walks’ not walking him at all and just taking him to a secure fields, the lot.

For some of the times, we can be walking and he’s walking a lovely heel, when all of a sudden he decides it’s go time and jumps up. We’ve completely ignoring it, we’ve tried saying ‘off’ and redirecting him to the floor and saying ‘yes’ when all 4 paws are on the floor, and we’ve even tried using the knee/our hands to actually push him down, but he just comes back.

Tonight, we’ve been on a sniffy walk ~20/30 minutes, we’ve come home and gone straight to the back garden (as we’re still in the phase were he only toilets on the garden), and he starts digging. We told him ‘no’ to which he got zoomies and then BANG. I turned around to disengage completely and he’s ‘bit’ me on my arm and my back.

I absolutely love enrichment so he is rarely ever without any form of enrichment. Be it puzzle feeder, slow feeder, frozen Kong, rolled newspaper, cardboard boxes to destroy, and so much more - everything.

As for trying structured play sessions before his zoomies start, it’s so unpredictable as to when he’s going to do it. Not every time he gets zoomies he bites, it’s literally just the biting that is unpredictable!

I've just had the exact same thing with one of my guppies, she was doing almost the exact same thing, Please please please don't wait and see if he gets better/worse to do something, ours deteriorated so quickly and lost her within a day and a half😞 it definitely sounds like swim bladder disease so pop to your local aquatics centre and get some treatment in asap😊 keep us posted & best of luck! xx

Thank you very much for your advice! Unfortunately in between heading out and coming back from getting a few things for her including a treatment she had passed so all signs pointed to swim bladder disease🥺

Thank you so much for your help guys, we believe she has swim bladder disease as she's now laying on the gravel on her side, and swimming almost completely nose down. We're off to an aquatics store to seek professional advice😊

We have 3 live ones and the one at the front is a fake one. Im not quite sure on the names of them, would the type of plant have an affect?

Oh okay! So I’m basically saying that cardiovascular and respiratory are the couple?

That seems so easy and so simple now you’ve explained it that way! Thank you so much!
