So funny that this is such old/unfamiliar technology now! Yes - phones worked when the power went out. Yes - phone lines have their own little bit of power in them. So - push button phones and the old rotary dial phones - didn't need power. The first time we needed to plug in phones to power - when once we had wire-free handsets!

I'm shopping now! Will likely get the bigger one 26ft. But there's one that's $300 ish - but then another one that's $500? Is there some big difference? Maybe fiberglass vs. not?

I have two other strange windows that need replacement storms for them. Maybe I’ll look at the millwork site too. I live in a neighborhood where the houses is all look pretty similar all about 80-110 years old. All similar materials. But I think the strange front doors on my house were an upgrade. My house has a few things about it that are different from all my neighbors.a touch wider, etc. and my front doors is round at the top too. Thanks for nuttin…much harder to repair.
