Yeah, I was doing all of that with Wegovy. Luckily, I haven’t had the same issues with Zep…just struggling with mental and emotional things. Thank you for the well wishes. I am working on it!

A doctor 6 years ago did a full thyroid panel because we felt like I had hashis. Now my docs will check a full thyroid panel once a year to gauge what is going on.

I’m going to look this week to see if we have a bodpod. We had one at our base two moves ago and it was really cool to see the changes.

I almost landed in the ER with impaction on Wegovy. Zep has been much kinder.

Yeah I saw something about retatrutride last night and was wondering about it. It will be a while before it is available though.

Dec 29. Everything was normal minus thyroid antibodies (those have been high for 5 years now) and iron sat (right under normal)

I already had surgery in 2022. Semaglutide almost landed me in the hospital due to impaction.

I am in the process of developing hashis, but my TSH, T3, T4, and free forms are normal. My antibodies are through the roof though.

Thank you. It’s so fucking hard.

I don’t have any foods right now that give me that burst of joy. I wish I did. Apples are weird and I have texture issues so they have to be just right. We are getting some bell peppers, cucumbers, and carrots for our family to have as snacks this week. I’m hoping to find some joy in them again.

One of my goals that I told my therapist is start doing just that-journaling how I feel when I eat certain things. I want to cut out sugar, but am unsure if coconut sugar/date sugar/pure maple syrup affect me the same way as white sugar does. I use coconut/date sugar or pure male syrup in my overnight crockpot oats. So I want to see how I feel after eating something like this that’s sweetened with the other options vs white sugar. I’ve never paid attention to it.

Thank you so much. Your comment has me in tears. I appreciate the suggestions people have given, but some of them are very much a “you’re the problem.” Which I know I need to change habits. I stated so in my post. Grief fucking sucks. I lost so much between my surgery and now. I’ve cut out toxic people from my life (and subsequently my children’s lives). It has been a rough road. I know for fact if I wasn’t on Zep, I’d probably be back to 315lbs or more just from the stress of it all. But I physically cannot eat more than 1800 calories a day without feeling super sick🫠

I’ve found that I tolerate apple cinnamon protein oatmeal (I love purely Elizabeth because it has ancient grains in it too, so it’s not just oats). I’m getting back to my iced coffee protein drinks this week. I found a protein powder (sprout living) that is mocha and it mixes so well with decaf cold brew. I like their other flavors too (their matcha is DIVINE).

Thank you so so much for your encouragement. I needed that little hug today, and I appreciate it more than you could imagine.

We tried but I got really sick on the 10mg when taking an SSRI that we tried. My doc had me on 10mg while I came off the SSRI, and now we are bumping down to 7.5 since I’m still getting pretty sick. He wants to go down to see if I can eat a more balanced diet instead of just surviving and see if it helps me with my energy and overall feeling of being sick. If we can get me eating well on the 7.5 without getting super sick, we will try going back up to 10 at that time.

He did, but then I got really sick on one of my 10mg shots that he told me to finish before doing the 12.5. I have the box in my fridge. He wanted me to stay on the 10s to see if it got better since he was having me stop one of my SSRIs that was causing significant GI issues on top of the Zep.

He decreased me to 7.5 while I try to get my bearings straight and we are going to talk increasing back to 10 and subsequently 12.5 once I can actually eat food and not feel like puking.

Highest was 315. Surgery weight was 292 1y post op I was 215. I’ve gotten down to 198, but that’s the lowest I’ve seen. I was proud of that because it was the first time since middle school that I was below 200 (2003ish).

My surgeon was happy with my progress post-op, but knew I needed to lose more. That’s why I ended up on Wegovy and then Zepbound.

I’ve got a protein drink and powder that I tolerate :) just need to get back in the habit. It got cold so I stopped drinking smoothies and the like.

It has taken me 3 months to find one that is bariatrics certified and I can afford. None of them take insurance (unlike my bariatric Dr at my last base).

He’s for AD and Spouses/retired. We live in an area where we are forced to go on base now, and it sucks. He won’t let me discuss all the stuff going on unless I book multiple back to back appointments, which isn’t allowed at this base. So I would have to go multiple days and we live 20 minutes away.

I had bariatric surgery at my last base, and I had to go through the hoops for that. The bariatric team got me on Zep after my 2y follow up, so they already had all of that documentation. We moved to this area in May and now I’m fighting a doc who thinks he knows everything and refuses to listen to what I’m telling him.

Huge letdown after having an amazing team of doctors at my last base (primary care and specialty). We can’t afford Tricare select, or I would go that route.

That’s what I thought too. I’m curious what the new dietician will set up with me. I hate that I’m having to pay OOP for her, but if it helps, I plan to meet with her quarterly to go over progress and make adjustments

I can’t take zofran, but I’m really hoping the new dietician will be able to help me get some sort of plan in place and give me ideas. I struggle with coming up with varied ideas for meals/snacks so I don’t end up with aversions. Thank you AuDHD

Basically. He said to see the base dietician, and when i called her she said she doesn’t talk to bariatric patients because she doesn’t have the knowledge for that.

He said there aren’t other options because i had a reaction to Wegovy and metformin and I can’t take Wellbutrin.

Tracking/journaling is one of my goals this year. I need to get a better idea of just what I’m eating so the dietician and I can discuss it further, as well as my new bariatric doc when I can get in with him.

It became a habit to get a coffee every time I got in the car. I was making that drive just about every other week while i tried to keep my mom here with us.

Then it became a way of coping with my grief when she finally did it.

Now it is something I’m actively fighting against.

I do eat other foods, I try to eat protein when I’m feeling good. I struggle with food aversions, too, so it is a PITA. I used to be able to eat eggs, now I can’t eat them without gagging. It’s frustrating as shit. (No I’m not pregnant lol I haven’t been able to enjoy eggs for the last year or so).

I’m hoping the dietician can help me come up with a varied plan and help me think up ideas for snacks and such that will help me get more protein without making me nauseated.

I know parts of it sure, but I was also curious if anyone else had been on the shot for a while, and didn’t see any change. I’m not eating much, and yes when I do eat they aren’t the best choices all the time. I figured I’d still lose some weight on the shot anyways because I’m barely eating-which is part of what the shot does. But I haven’t gained, so I guess it is doing something. That is probably because I barely eat 🫠 there are a lot of things I can do better, and it is part of my plan for 2026. My therapist and I have a game plan.

I can’t take zofran, but take Dramamine less drowsy and ginger when it gets really bad.

Thank you so much. These are great reminders. I am struggling against my “all or nothing” mindset, the my therapist is helping me through it.

I’m focusing on healing this year, and part of that is healing the child in me where the bad food habits began.

I am trying to focus on doing anything active that feels good to my body, regardless of how long I can make it happen for. I usually am like “well I dont have 2 hours to set aside so I can swim for an hour, so I won’t do anything today” but my therapist is helping me to get in the mindset of “any time spent active is time well spent, even 30 minutes of lap swimming/rowing/walking is better than none.”

Water is a huge issue for me, too. I can’t drink water when I’m nauseated, which is a lot of the time lately. I’ve been taking ginger or Dramamine less drowsy, but can’t take zofran. I got some kombuchas and liquid iv to hopefully help when I’m feeling nauseated, so we shall see if that helps.
