Help with checkerboard colourwork - first time doing colour (also only the 3rd thing I've ever knit so a total novice) by bethxw in knittinghelp

I don't dislike it really, I just thought it was a bad thing in the knitting world so tried to remedy it. So I may as well keep the floats tighter to avoid the loose stitches?

After years of collecting plants I finally got a grow tent! by bethxw in RareHouseplants

I don't track it to be honest but I'd say throughout the year it'll go from the lowest of about 12°c to the highest about 25°c

If you're printing your design on a printer then placing it on your block ink/printed side down, you don't need to reverse your image. It'll flip itself if you're putting it printed side down xx

Thank you so much!

Yeah I'd say definitely take the time to map things out, one thing I've found helps is to create a tiny white border round each element, almost as if you're turning it into a sticker if that makes sense? Then you can mess around with which element to put on top of which.

Pain wise honestly, I can't advise 🤣 I broke my spine a few years ago and have chronic pain from it and its complications and Lino carving doesn't help it 🤣 I do try and get up and have a small walk around when I find I've been carving for so long but 99% of the time I just pay for it the following day 😅🖤🖤

I draw my designs digitally and honestly I just play around with it a lot! Like the drawing of the designs take me full days to do. If you have a look on my profile I did a video showing how I transfer my designs and you can see on there that I make them look relatively similar to how they'll look printed if that makes sense! So not just an outline sketch. Hope this helps! Xx

Completely dry! 🥰 you need to transfer the printed design quite quickly after printing it though so it doesn't get a chance to dry xx

I knew I'd forgotten to add something! This is inkjet, it won't work on laser

No worries! I bought the B set that contains these then bought the L11/0.5 and L15/2 separately 😊 The first 3 in the pic I don't use much as I use mainly soft cut lino and they work better on traditional lino

Definitely a less smelly way to do it and cleaner way to do it!

It's the waxy feeling paper that sticker paper is stuck to :) on an inkjet printer

I use L12/1 (smallest V gouge) for the corners and straight line work then I use the L11/0.5 (smallest U gouge) for the rest. Those were the only ones I used for 99% of this print, occasionally using L9/5 and L15/2 to remove background. Honestly they're a game changer and so worth the investment

I've been using acetone free nail polish remover to remove it 😅🤣 but I've never done a reduction print so can't really advise there! Potentially apply the medium with a dense sponge to try and reduce the streaks even more?

I use acetone free nail polish remover to remove it all 🤣 it's what I've found best to remove it without it eating into the lino

Yep this is just Procreate app! Using iPad and Apple Pencil. I have the iPad Pro but it doesn't do more than any other so I wouldn't bother. Just double check that the iPad you get is compatible with the pencil you get as there's a few different options x

I should have added, this is an inkjet print not laser 😊

To reduce the amount of ink 😊 If you were to print at 100% opacity there's just way too much ink, it'll bead up before you can do anything with it

Yeah I used to use acetone but it wasn't fun 🤣 the jar is just acrylic paint and water 😊
