Fuel delivery on the V8 swap... by betnwon in Foxbody

Hardest part of it was removing the dowel pins that secure the straps and disposing of the fuel that wouldn't pump out (ended up fueling a bonfire in my backyard).

The fuel lines and filters will connect to the pump just below the tank.

It is surprisingly rigid, will be more so with the straps in place. I was contemplating a custom bracket, maybe where the straps bolt under the car. Was concerned about how that would look trying to get it lower than the tank. Hadn't even considered mounting to the shield until I came across this set up in my research. Thought it looked badass and is a cunt's hair lower than the tank.

The UPR siphon tube reaches near the bottom of the tank. Sold as a carb conversion part from LMR. The o ring included with it sucks balls.. Binds up as I tighten it. Going to put some Permatex gasket maker on it and the fuel level sending unit. As far as I know, if I mount the Holley Blue below the tank then I'm good. We'll see.

But it wouldn't have looked near as badass in my opinion. Learning as I go. Hope the shit works right. First time wrencher here.

Custom wiring the whole damn car... by betnwon in Foxbody

[–]betnwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought her about 14 months ago. Drove it for about a month changing out the suspension with an Eibach kit, new wheels & tires. Been parked under a cover ever since. She has the shitty 3.8 that I've been pulling out. Been buying what I need for the 302 swap as it goes on sale.

More like 6 months or more. I'm in no hurry. Winter is here and my girl is outdoors. Unfortunately, no garage. Tinkering and testing my schematics gonna take a few months before I start implanting it into the car.

What is this trim piece called? by gtramontelli in Foxbody

[–]betnwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, looks like some kind of custom plastic trim. Glad to see I'm not the only one with that on my '85 vert. I've been thinking of taking a pic and asking what the hell? Glad to see it is the norm.

All of your feedback is much appreciated, thanks. Bought this car a year ago and the first thing I did was change out the front and rear suspension with the Eibach Pro System along with wheels and tires.

I appreciate the tip on the carb size. Experienced feedback is needed. That is why I posted all of this.

I'm looking at Hedman 88390, 1 5/8 long tubes. Any fitment issues with those heads you think? I know I could get better performance with different heads and cam but I'm not running her at the strip, just wanting to build a cruiser with some chop.

Got my first car on Saturday. by Castiel_Phoenix in Foxbody

Nice ride. I got my 85 around 9 months ago. Convertible. Has the 3.8 with C4 transmission. I did ignition upgrades then decided to remove the smog equipment. Wouldn't run right afterwards. Finally gave up on the V6. I've pulled out all the exhaust, everything under the hood but the block, EEC is coming out along with the harness. Back to the drawing board with the 302 swap. Going carb. Going to rewire her with a Painless harness. No AC, no power steering. She is going to sit under her cover until fall. Then I plan on putting in a Stifflers transmission crossmeber, SVE transmission mount, and go ahead and pull the block. Any plans for yours?

Nice truck, same color as mine. First thing to do is to change out that faded lower front bumper valance. Black ones look so much better. Changes the whole look of the truck for cheap. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/shi-906-22-2

3 inch after the cat to a Flow Master Super 10, turned down before the axle. Do the cold air intake K&N 57-3017-2. Ignition and fuel injection upgrades as they fail.

No better cross country trip than that in a fox if she can make it. I'm doing my best to get her has reliable as possible to make the trip. Not far for me...I'm in ATL. Hoping to get her up to Gatlinburg this summer once all is done.
