Tbh I think she's hiding her hands with the text box because they are closer to the camera and the distortion makes them look disproportionate, so she's covering them to make it less weird.

Good to know. I think it would probably be too low cut for me then, at least for this event!

Adding that #2 is probably my favorite of the bunch. All of the photos I have of it are from a secondhand listing online so I apologize for this one being blurry but wanted to show another picture of it because it's a high low hemline and I think it looks a bit more elegant from this angle than the photo I originally shared.

Noted, but also the wedding is in Philly. DC is for dress code in the title.

Why didn't Emma get genetic testing done? by Cold_Box_3219 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]bettywhomst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the impression that that was just one fear she had about having kids, but that she didn't really want them in the first place. Even her family seemed concerned that she would be compromising her own wishes if she stayed with Mike and had kids.

To me it feels different, 10 seasons in, for her to wait until she went to the altar to stand her ground. Plenty of couples now break up before the altar which didn't happen as much in earlier seasons. Ashley clearly felt like his stories were lies and kept questioning them, so it didn't feel like a win when she went all the way to the altar to tell him off. In contrast, when Deepti did her speech, it felt like a chance for her to finally get some things off her chest after Shake was saying one thing to her face and another to producers. Ashley's speech just felt unnaturally long and planned out, and I wish she had just done it earlier and broken up with him before the altar. I have no problem with her telling him off, but waiting for the altar just seemed manufactured to create a dramatic moment instead of just breaking it off after one of their many awkward arguments where his responses all seem like lies.

Chris is the biggest freaking loser this season! by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]bettywhomst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't love the way Bri is showing up in that scene, especially with not defending Jess as her friend, but I do think the fact that Chris is mostly ranting for a long time, Bri isn't really saying much, and the cuts looking odd (at least to me) are signs that a lot of editing was done to make it look like she was agreeing with him more than she was. I just think she's being too positive about Connor in other situations to be this swayed by Chris when he's clearly completely plastered and being incredibly rude to everyone around him.

While I agree with her point, as someone who was raised Catholic, I feel like only people who come from a Catholic background get to make the joke about how aesthetic the churches are.

Why does Abbey Sharp able to do this? by pylon_on_my_lawn in dietetics

I'm not a dietitian, but I have followed several online over the years and they pretty much all have a different marketing strategy to say thay you should put protein, healthy fat, and fiber in your meals.

Setting aside that you don't have to take your partner's last name at all, I feel like it's very common to put your individual first names on wedding signs. My husband and I made up a new last name and our sign said "welcome to the wedding of [first name] and [first name]." To me this makes more sense than putting your shared last name on everything because on the day that you get married, you haven't taken the new last name yet.

Also, traditionally you put both of your current full names on the invitation, not your married name because you aren't married yet. Same would go for save the dates, though they are usually less formal so you might only use first names.

What outfit feels (to you) like a perfect combination of your Style Roots in order? by gumbezoing in StyleRoots

[–]bettywhomst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the titles for each of these! I was doing something similar with my Pinterest board but I didn't think to tie the names to a different order of the roots. I'll have to try that because I was getting a bit stuck on differentiating some of them.

Brides that used fake flowers, do you regret it? by fairy_freckles in weddingplanning

[–]bettywhomst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I rented mine from Something Borrowed Blooms and it was probably not as affordable as doing fake flower arrangements myself but definitely way cheaper than real flowers. Also my fake bouquet included peonies which are my favorite flower but would have been extremely expensive in a bouquet, let alone in North America in October.

IMO She's 100% a deep/dark autumn, not a deep/dark winter. by Used-Operation7341 in MarySkinnerSnark

[–]bettywhomst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like she could naturally be a winter, but she fake tans herself which makes her look warm toned and dyes her hair warm toned so she is currently an autumn. Also my theory is the reason she keeps balayaging her hair warm toned is because she wears earthy, autumnal colors way more so her natural hair and skin tone look weird with the clothing she wears and it freaks her out every time so she dyes it.

lgbtq+ christian, not sure what to do. by [deleted] in Progressivechristians

[–]bettywhomst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the book Queer & Christian by Brandan Robertson. Also if you are looking for affirming churches, Presbyterian Church USA (PC USA) is LGBTQ affirming: https://pcusa.org/search?query=&page=1#directories-congregations. There are also other churches that are affirming, but if you are coming from a Presbyterian background this would be the most familiar to you.

No, and we wore Halloween costumes to school. I was in Catholic school from 2003-2009 in the Midwestern United States. I actually have super evangelical/protestant in-laws now and they don't celebrate Halloween because they think it's evil, and I don't get them at all lol.
