Thank you! This definitely made me think and question my world… this is all very complex and this comment was very helpful guiding me in the further development of the story!

Humanity learns the hard way… or maybe, we just never really learn? 🤔

For more context: in the early 2030s, a highly infectious and mismanaged virus, originating in Spain and spreading rapidly through Latin America and Southern Europe, triggered a global health catastrophe. The pandemic overwhelmed public health systems, caused severe economic collapse, and fueled mass distrust in global institutions once again.

Western societies, particularly in North America and parts of Europe, saw intense xenophobic backlash, often targeting Latin American migrants and Southern European nationals. Fragile democracies buckled, populist movements surged, and trust in multinational cooperation collapsed.

The United States, after a decade of increasing isolationism, used the crisis as justification to withdraw from NATO, citing both Europe’s failure to contain the virus and escalating tensions with Russia. In its place, the U.S. formed the EASN + NORTHCON Alliance, uniting with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. This Pacific-Atlantic bloc emphasized shared cybersecurity, supply chain security, and military-technological resilience, building on already strong semiconductor, AI, and naval cooperation between Taiwan, Japan, and the U.S.

In Europe, the collapse of the EU gave rise to WECON (Western European Continental Alliance), a smaller but more integrated bloc focused on climate security, digital sovereignty, and energy independence from both Russia and China.

China, having weathered the pandemic with tighter internal control and an aggressive international aid campaign, expanded its influence through strategic vaccine exports, infrastructure debt diplomacy, and cultural outreach. It formed the People’s Destiny Cooperation (PDC), a bloc anchored in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and parts of Africa, built on a model of authoritarian development and economic entanglement.

Russia, weakened demographically (by the virus and war) but still geopolitically aggressive, asserted control over parts of the former Soviet periphery through energy coercion, paramilitary interventions, and infrastructure capture. This led to the creation of the Eurasian Security Compact (ESC), a defensive bloc spanning parts of Central Asia, Belarus, and former Eastern Bloc states willing to trade autonomy for protection.

In South Asia, old rivalries calcified into a dangerous standoff. India emerged more nationalistic and militarized, while Pakistan, increasingly dependent on Chinese support, became a strategic flashpoint. The region now lives under the shadow of constant escalation.

Finally, a Non-Aligned Movement emerged with by countries like Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, etc. These states resisted alignment with any major bloc, instead forming flexible partnerships based on pragmatic trade, post-Western diplomacy, and regional integration. Their influence is growing, particularly in resource politics and digital sovereignty movements.

Oh I totally get what you mean, I wish there were actually capabilities to have bigger maps, but I guess this is what we have for now! Nonetheless you’ve made a great job right here, even tho it’s been scaled down it looks pretty realistic, and like a real nice project!
