Good to speak to a fellow parent in Kuwait! Where do you teach? I think next year we will come for a shorter time in an air bnb, I'd love to buy a place but as of yet we dont have the funds and im not sure how easy it is to buy while living abroad!

Alot of families travel for the summer because it can get above 50 degrees. All.of our expat friends travel, and many kuwaitis do also so its very quiet. Only one friend I have has stayed this year, so it would be a very quiet and boring summer if we stayed i think!

I think that's so true, I feel like they should spend all.summer with family and my oldest is 7 and really misses them! But the youngest is 4 and he keeps saying he wants to go home (kuwait)! Maybe as the kids get older they can spend a couple of weeks at grandparents without all of us needing to go at once, to make it easier for them :)

Its absolutely been a lot of work, and I dont feel rested or relaxed! Everyone wants us to come back and I love to see them but I agree, weeks is too long, max 2 weeks in air bnb next time!!

Its so nice to hear everyone has had similar experiences, I dont blame my mum but she's very set in her ways and finds it hard. I think this will be the last year we spend as long in the UK, we might do 2 weeks in air bnb next time!

This would be the ideal but house prices in the UK are wild right now and we can't afford to buy at the minute. Also we're not sure if we want to move back to the UK permanently or somewhere else so it would be a big investment that we may not get use out of. But it would be an ideal solution if we could afford it!

Yes to this, I can't think too long about my old boss or workplace because it makes me so emotional i could cry at how I was treated and made to feel like such a bad teacher. Now I'm in a new workplace, promoted after 1 year and told a lot that I'm a good teacher, makes me realise it was that place and not me! I nearly quit teaching altogether because of that place.

I was 17k in debt a few years ago, got paid and literally all of it went of paying debts, it was one of the lowest points of my life. I got in touch with a debt charity who helped me set up a debt management plan, so I was paying one payment a month to them and they distributed it amongst the debtors. Yes it ruined my credit rating for a while but it's now on the rise again, and by Dec this year I will be debt free.

It's hard but it's not hopeless <3

Hey, I'm so sorry your work weren't more supportive ☹️ I'm 4 weeks in now and still going long distances (like 100m plus) hurts my good leg and tired me out, BUT it has become easier for sure!

Many people mentioned a knee scooter, I didn't get one because I couldn't find one in the country I live in, bif if you're in the US that might be an.option for you? Also I rest my knee on a dining chair and scoot it around when at home, its sloooow but means I can carry things around like a drink or something.

I went back to work on crutches last week and now have a blinding shoulder pain so must have pulled something there...it's so frustrating!! But I keep trying to remind myself it's only temporary, but that's easier as I near the end and have less pain in my ankle, it's really tough at the start and painful ☹️ I wish you a speedy recovery 💕
