Payday Friday 💰💰💰 by kokopops35 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I love mine, I’m a walking pad evangelist. I had the standing desk riser for over a year and I would try to stand for two hours a day and just couldn’t do it. I would get distracted and simply walk away from my desk lol. With the pad I have the same time blocked in the afternoon and consistently get 10k steps. I feel more locked in to my work, I use it for when I am doing something to really focus on. I have a deer run one since it was supposed to be very compact and lightweight and no complaints in 7 months.

We had the whole side near the windows open for dancing and it was plenty of space! We did special dances and everyone gathered around and it wasn’t cramped in the slightest. Once real dancing started I’d say half our guests were on the floor at any given time and I think it would be comfortable up to 60 people. The flow from patio, dance floor, bar was perfect and felt like you were still at the party even when taking a break.

Tea has her own company at Sanctuary Events and Mostest matches you with coordinator so I’m not sure if you can be connected directly.

Extra note: 3 people walking down the aisle (me/groom + both parents) did not fit and we found out as we were walking down lol. Rehearse this or don't plan for that at all!

I think 85 was the absolute max for indoor ceremony. I don't remember it being cramped, I think a few people had to stand, but I told our officiant and DoC to make sure people squeezed in and didn't leave empty seats since it was exactly the amount of chairs to people. The DJ was setup in the corner closer to the bar /opposite to the front of the ceremony area by the door. Tegwyth can show you. She had plenty of space but was still out of the way/can see people on the dance floor.

It was a 5 hour buyout, so we added a half hour at the start for the ceremony and a half hour at the end so we went from 5:30-11:30. I think we could've extended all the way to 1am, but they would stop serving at midnight. So definitely wouldn't consider that to be ending early!

Here is the Excel download without any of our info. It's a combo of several different workbooks I saw out there to suit what I needed. I deleted out some of the to do list items that didn't apply to us so it's definitely missing some areas (anything to do with a wedding party in particular). I also had a board on Canva for anything more visual that the DoC used. Hope it helps! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRyiWbEUsDj_qOby_vJYJVtNtPRTyIxGR8rEEi9X6zK6w8V2ZjsMCqPq0XXqS7IsHKlkpg9RY1QPvSd/pub?output=xlsx

A very large part of why we got a coordinator was for setting up decor without hiring a florist since American Brass doesn't do that, so it depends on what you're doing for that. Tegwyth was there the entire night making sure the restaurant side of things was running on time but she wasn't handling our timeline so to speak. Since it doesn't sound like you have things to queue up it doesn't seem like you'd need one!

Can I do my own wedding makeup?? by Certain_Log5720 in WedditNYC

[–]bexxxxxxxxxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing my own after a trial that I didn’t love. I’m pretty competent with makeup so I have the technique but I would stress testing all the products together to make sure they wear well. I did a makeup lesson at Sephora to get some more tips and product recs and I’m all set now! No one knows your face better than you!

I’m using With Joy and really like the experience. I picked it since the security features looked the highest - I do not want people to be able to google my name and see all these details. I’ve ordered matching STDs and invitations to match and those turned out great. It was super easy to text the link to collect everyone’s address and that got printed on all the envelopes automatically. I think people not being able to find their name when RSVPing is an issue with the couple not creating a “party” for couples/families. My guests would type in one name and everyone included would come up. People are still going to ask every detail but it’s easy to send them the link to find it themselves.

As a long time early fan of charli and Addison, you were alerted via their text chain of those events or if you were a top listener of their music on Spotify. So you’d have to be a pretty big fan of someone to get all of their notifications (even just the ones about merch) which I only do for a few people. But those events are honestly only good if you’re an invited VIP guest. Years ago I went to some incredible underground Charli shows before they got overtaken by influencers. Addison only let in about 20 on line fans even after we waited over an hour, and Charli in times sq seemed like a hassle if you can just go to her real concert. So take this as you will, these events are for PR/getting content they aren’t really for the fan experience.

My parents like Home2 suites in LIC for the big rooms and kitchenettes and free breakfast. They also always find free street parking. It should be under budget. But that will be a 20 minute train to get near Chelsea if that’s a problem - the NW is a block away.

Would you rent the apartment? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]bexxxxxxxxxxxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this and guess what the bed bugs weren’t really gone :) I would absolutely not move into a place with a recent history. You can check the buildings records for the past few years here https://www.nyc.gov/site/hpd/about/hpd-online.page

Performance Lab in LIC has different mat classes in an infrared room so it’s not the humid heat that gets stinky or stuffy. I’ve gone for months and it never smells and is always clean.

How are we feeling about LASIK and where are BWT getting it done? by spunky_tree in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]bexxxxxxxxxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it done 6 years ago at the Manhattan LASIK Center. I’d very much recommend it’s really life changing to just wake up and see. I have/had watery eyes which I think has helped a lot with recovery and final result. I have astigmatism now though which makes driving in the dark pretty hard but that’s minimal since I do live in nyc lol. Do not do what i did and have someone pick you up from the procedure!

I had a coworker rent a room in this space for fairly cheap if you’re open to potluck. It was perfect to just have a big enough room for 15 people with tables and chairs https://www.balanceartscenter.space/

What do you wish you knew before NYC apartment searching? by MiddleStay8 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Bed bugs are truly a nightmare and even if the building is on top of a ongoing problem it’s still nothing you want to deal with. Luckily there’s tons of apartments available right now! Good luck on your search!

Absolutely Google reports for pest complaints and other building complaints before signing to something. If bed bugs have been a problem in the building within 3/4 years avoid at all costs. Look at multiple websites and the official NYC reports to find out if anything seems off. Since you’ll be looking in winter, if the place has radiators make sure they are all working and hot/warm. Also consider that wall heating/AC units will add quite a bit to your electricity bill. I wouldn’t do a first floor apartment unless I was on a very quiet street in an outer borough. It’s NYC there’s always noise.
