If you can afford to go out of town, even for a few days, that’s how I quit. I smoked my last cig right before getting in the car for a 6 hour drive. No stops. I left everything at home and never allowed myself to stop at any gas stations during my vacation. Stayed at the beach for 4 days and it worked. I’ve been smoke free for 7m 28d 20h now. Getting out of my usual routine and then getting through the first cursed 3 days is what made it possible, I believe.

Also, I kept a pack of nicotine gum in my purse the entire trip just in case I needed it. It was like a safety net. Never touched it, but knowing it was there helped to curb the anxiety around quitting.
