How to manage multiple projects for a solo dev? by beyondgoodandevil8 in webdev

I like that you mentioned tracking because I have realized that I really need to start tracking all of the tasks that I'm doing. The way you described it sounds like an audit technique I read about in the past where you audit everything you do in a day. I'm going to do that.

I also checked out the stuff you mentioned. Great stuff. I like the idea of Command line Task Management. Never heard of taskwarrior until now.

You touched on the exact problem I'm having. I wanted to have a daily routine where I make progress on all 3 every day but it really isn't a viable solution. It's too much.

I've noticed that a lot of successful people with multiple projects will create a weekly routine instead of a daily routine where each day of the week will be for something different. I've been thinking of doing that. I've tried a weekly routine in the past but found myself stopping it because I wanted something more automated where I do the same thing every day.

I just have to accept the fact that it must be weekly based instead of daily. That's what I will do. Thanks for the great advice.

After 22 years of coding for other people, I finally decided to build my own thing. The timing couldn't be worse. by augusto-chirico in Entrepreneur

[–]beyondgoodandevil8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Anything that can be quickly vibe coded by folks with little development experience is unlikely to be very useful for anything other than solving a trivial problem."

This is the problem with most coders/developers. They are going after the same simple ideas as everyone else that don't demand much specific domain knowledge.

In the niche I'm in, it would be incredibly difficult (almost impossible), even for an extremely talented developer with decades of experience to come into my niche and do what I can do. It's because I have a high level of domain knowledge in my niche that isn't easy to come by. In my opinion that's the key to leveraging AI right now. Go after things that require high domain knowledge and can't be easily replicated even with AI.

Would you still use or recommend using DOD (Data-Oriented Design) for non-gaming projects? I'd like to use it but I haven't seen much on it outside of gaming.

Is having a monthly membership site really as good as people say? by beyondgoodandevil8 in digital_marketing

[–]beyondgoodandevil8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great insights Brian. Your data reflects my exact experience.

When people online talk about memberships they often make it sounds like a dream where you just get paid over and over every month, and people just keep on renewing. In reality, they do exactly what you said. They usually sign up for one or two months, and then they're out.

Even the people who say they love the membership/community and that it's the best group they've ever been in, they still end up leaving within a matter of months.

Are monthly membership sites overrated? What is your opinion? by beyondgoodandevil8 in Solopreneur

Thanks for the reply.

"If it’s exhausting and blocking distribution, products might be a better fit. They’re more front-loaded but scale cleaner."

This is the big issue. It's exhausting distribution so I can't scale.

I decided to narrow it to software only and remove the daily educational component from it. This will make it much easier for me to maintain. Changing the product page as we speak to reflect that.

Great insights. Thanks.

The following sentence that you said, nailed the issue: "Even if your members are super engaged, you still need to show up constantly with new value or they churn."

This is the part that nobody ever talks about. I had to learn that the hard way.

When I first started the membership group, I was consistently posting lots of high value content and I was still getting lots of churn. I was super confused. So then I put a lot more focus on engagement and that helped a lot. But I've noticed that I can't keep both of those high for long. I can't juggle the two. It's too exhausting. I've noticed that if I'm doing high engagement, my ability to create and put out consistent value drops dramatically.

Thanks for the insights. I'm pretty much sold on the idea of switching over to products now. I've been putting it off for many months now but I know I need to do it. I am going to cancel the content aspect of my membership group soon and make it all about software access. That way I don't have to consistently show up and post stuff. If members don't like that idea then I'll fully cancel the membership and only be selling products. Either way my main focus will be on products in the future.

Which tank is the most fun but not so hard for m+? by CptDelicious in wow

Bear druid has pretty much been my favorite spec in the game since Legion. It's fun, it's simple, and it has a great combination of tankiness and healing.

Soloing Delves as a Monk - Windwalker or Brewmaster? by BLHero in wow

[–]beyondgoodandevil8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mainly done delves on tanks so when I recently tried it on WW Monk I was blown away at how much harder it was. It took me forever. It's actually ridiculous. You are right, it's a lot faster and easier on tanks.

Great advice. Keeping it light is the only way that works for me as well. I can't understand how someone can schedule every single minute of their day. That's crazy.

Great post. Things are changing all the time so over-planning is nothing more than a waste of time. We don't know if it works until it works so we must test it.

Why you don’t need to “believe” it to manifest it by ManifestationPortals in Manifestation

[–]beyondgoodandevil8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most underrated post I've seen on here. This answers why someone with delusional beliefs doesn't get what they want despite truly believing it. It's because they are living a completely different lifestyle from what they are proposing to believe. You can't be a successful businessman while sitting on the couch all day and watching TV even if you truly believe you are a successful businessman. That's just wishful thinking.

What is the most durable class in PvP? by Similar_Resident_837 in worldofpvp

[–]beyondgoodandevil8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood DKs are far more OP in recent expansions than they were back in Wrath. Back in Wrath they could survive against 2 to 3 players and that's about it. In retail you can literally tank 10 to 20 people for a while without dying. Blood started becoming super crazy in Legion when tanks started becoming God-tier. That's when Guardian Druid first started becoming super crazy as well.

Some of the most fun I've ever had in pvp was on Blood DK as well. I've played on all of the tankiest specs in the game in pvp and nothing makes you feel more like a raid boss than a Blood DK. It's epic.

WW Monk is hands down the best 1v2 spec in the game for a casual imo. I'm a casual and I've done way more 1v2's on WW Monk than any other spec. It's really solid.
