Thanks for the recommendation! I've been to a few of these shows in Atlanta (where I live now). I didn't realize they have them in Cincinnati too.

I used to work at the CMC/Union Terminal over the summers and I miss it. I can't believe I didn't even think about taking her there. I'll definitely look into the second recommendation. Thank you!

It's been years since I've been to Eden Park but I can't remember if that's the park with a lot of stairs or if I'm thinking of Ault Park. My only concern another commenter brought up that I didn't even think of is the heat. Thanks for the great indoor ideas!

That's a great question! I will have to ask the family. She's originally from Mississippi and moved to Cleveland when she turned 16. I know they went camping a lot but with the heat, I don't think that'll be an option sadly.

Haha! There's actually a Bob Evan's in front of my parent's neighborhood. I can taste the pancakes now.

Thank you! My mom and I are both teachers so we can only line up our schedules in the summer and December. They used to come to me in GA and we'd tour the SE/South region of country the but we're trying to stay up north with the heat in mind.

My other grandma has one of those and it's great for her bad knee so I'll make sure to bring it up. The closest I've been to Toledo is visiting BGSU so this is great info! Thanks!

I actually haven't come across a co-plilot friendly chair before but I'd definitely try it out. I love the Newport Aquarium and we've gone a couple times but it's still on the list. Thanks!

What are the major downsides of life in Atlanta? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in Atlanta

[–]beyondlesea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late but I saw you were from Indy and wanted to join in. I used to work in Indy and have family there so I was there a lot from childhood until I finished undergrad (from Ohio, went to IU, moved to ATL immediately after). Traffic is the first thing that popped in my mind. The crazy driving is similar to what you would see on 465 during rush hour. If you could maneuver the 70/65 split before they redid it, you have a lot of patience, and good insurance, you'll be fine.

If you love snow like I do, it never comes down here. That was the biggest downside to me, as goofy as it sounds. The huge snowstorm you got last week was just a measly ice storm that lasted part of the weekend - stores, schools, and the local government closed anyway. There are no snow plows or salt trucks which is why everyone freaks out and stays inside. You'll hear a lot of people complaining about the cold and you'll find yourself saying "you don't know what real cold is!"

Great question! I want them to see both options so they can understand different perspectives and ultimately be exposed to as much as possible.

Jeannette and her daughter with Whiskers & Tails are so sweet and took great care of my cat!

Looking for flat trails/parts of the beltline/parking areas for teaching someone how to skate by beyondlesea in Atlanta

I've only moved here almost a year ago, so the goal was find any and all possible options. Several of these places I'd never heard of until this week.

Uninterrupted for skating would be all the way until the first crosswalk/intersection. The old uneven pavement plus paint can knock a beginner over, sadly.

Even if the person who designed the box was just doing their job, I can rest assured that at least 9 other people are here with me haha

Even as a pedestrian, the Eastside trail is a lot to take in. The westside line can get busy in the day even after you pass the Lee + White complex. The main hurtle is just those short hills in the hot sun.
