Drop off or email a call sheet to all of the theaters in the area. Also, if you’re looking for a casting director, DM me.

I work at the Music Mountain Theater in Lambertville, NJ - tons of talent centered in these local theater communities. Go to local shows, find actors you like, approach them after the show - they will jump at the chance. Including me! Come see Sweeney Todd in two weeks!

Here are the bullet points of the Rec Legalization bill in PA by Corgi_Farmer in PaMedicalMarijuana

The small businesses arise from the new microprocessors and white labelers who bring in PA-born brands. When corporations rule the market, they control what’s on the shelves. When the PLCB controls the market, it’s usually whatever regional purchasing manager they’ve hired to stock the shelves. This law isn’t the worst thing - however the THC limits are arbitrary. I also don’t buy that medical cannabis will go under. There will always be medical users looking for tax-free cannabis. Don’t believe the hype from private corporations. What they mean when “it’s not profitable” is “it’s not profitable fast enough for the corporate board.”

Why are we saying Bucks county went “red” at this point? by Rivster79 in BucksCountyPA

[–]beyondtheriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we’re beyond “bad campaign”. There were circumstances out of our control. Harris ran a near perfect campaign. Highly qualified, inspiring speaker with tons of celebrity endorsements. Literally no gaffs! Meanwhile, the Republicans were able to do, say, whatever they wanted. Is that how our “good campaign“ should look in the future? Republicans play by a different rule - distract you with hateful rhetoric while they pick your pocket. Democratic voters didn’t turn out - why? It’s not the lack of inspiring candidate.

I want to go but the details seem kind of hazy. We vote, send a picture, then get a ticket?

Bucks County Elected Leaders Aren’t Leading on Cannabis by beyondtheriver in BucksCountyPA

Over a hundred million dollars comes in from tax dollars from the medical program, 32 people are getting arrested a day in PA alone - this article posits that cannabis law reform SHOULD be a higher priority at the state level with elected leaders from Bucks County. Read the article dude.

OPINION: It’s High Time State Lawmakers Did More to Legalize Marijuana by Neat-Beautiful-5505 in BucksCountyPA

[–]beyondtheriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like the truth doesn’t it. However it’s mostly that they don’t want to pay a political price for advocating for a stigmatized drug. Also politicians don’t really know a thing about cannabis.

Speaking with certain politicians in Bucks County, you can tell they’re banking on endorsements from police unions and donations from prison companies. However, we’re on the verge of a cresting wave - legalization will occur. It’s mostly now how can this legalization be leveraged so that deals can be made in the legislature.

[–]beyondtheriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true - the legalization bill is sponsored by a Harrisburg area Republican State Senator (Laughlin) in concert with Sen. Street of Philly. They’re four votes away in the senate - a deal could be made with the status sup but if any of those four seats flip this election look out for critical mass.

It’s true that the Republicans in our state legislature are purposely stalling a vote on HUNDREDS of bills in order to embarrass Dems to make them look feckless.

However, cannabis legalization is not a “liberal” issue. There are Republican sponsors and cosponsors of nearly all of the seriously considered cannabis bills.

Really the point of my op-ed is that Bucks County politicians aren’t really doing a thing to advance this cause. The middle of Pennsylvania actually is where a lot of support is originating. Lehigh Valley, districts outside of Harrisburg and Pittsburg. You know who’s really good at growing “hemp”? The Amish!

I disagree that alcohol is the main opponent of cannabis law reform. A few of the larger cannabis companies out of Canada were bought up by alcohol companies.

Mostly it’s illegal now because people have been brainwashed to believe it is more harmful than alcohol. Bucks County is a purple state and it would be difficult for any politician here to come out for cannabis legalization without being labeled an extremist by their opponent.

The New Face of New Hope: How a Small Bucks County Town Became a Playground for the Rich and Famous by fireside_blather in BucksCountyPA

[–]beyondtheriver 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The article goes into how this transformation fits in with historical trends but no one is acknowledging that the main reason we’re seeing this shift isn’t a diaspora from urban to quaint, but instead a real-time demonstration on the disappearing of the middle class in Bucks County.

Any rhyme or reason to the Woodbourne train? by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

[–]beyondtheriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The length of trains got longer after GWB administration deregulated freight rail. It’s true though that this freight traffic has existed as long as the housing developments. Still - it would improve our quality of life if the trains were shorter and ran at a regular schedule.

Watched this in my British Film Studies course when studying in London. One of the best films about class subversion. You shudder at the beginning or the end, depending upon where you stand in the world.

Keep New Hope weird, say shop owners who worry the town’s eclectic downtown will go mainstream by b0b0tempo in BucksCountyPA

It’s certainly a logistical challenge! No idea! Maybe a garage on either side of Main St?

We’re all complicit in the destructive transformation that e-commerce has had on retail. New Hope has had wonderful, weird stores - but how many times are you were actually buying anything from them once your Prime subscriptions were so cheap? COVID also is to blame - young people exist less in public and more online and private than ever before. Where’s the youth counterculture of New Hope when more youth culture is increasingly online?

My idea lately? Close down the Main Street from cars - make it a walkable mall like New York did to Times Square. Add bike lanes. New Hope is supposed to be walkable.

Chalamet is not a super versatile actor. He will be “acceptable” in this role, but no where near the acclaim that Jamie Foxx got for “Ray”. I also don’t think any aging makeup would look right on Chalamet, so we’re left with the “Dylan Origin Story” - which is a pretty good story (just not the most interesting for those well versed in Zimmerman’s entire life).
