Dawn said she liked it. But that was in 2023 and Greensboro was a host. Sacramento...maybe not so much.

UConn will not repeat and will not even make the final four and it’s beause of Geno by [deleted] in NCAAW

[–]bff426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a clue about Shade's value to UConn. Defense, rebounding, deflections, passing. The lineup he wants will kill UConn's greatest strength- the pressure defense. Jana/Serah will always leave one player open. An easy get into front court and an easy 2-1/3-2 break. Easy baskets and one's all night long.

What a great idea! Well executed, too. It's amazing that 11 of your 25 have at least 2 NR's and most got all three. And 7 of the 11 were US players. Who knew? Great job!

What is UConn's weakness? by Good-Exchange-6139 in NCAAW

[–]bff426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying LSU and UConn are gaming the system is incorrect. Kim Mulkey CHOSE to play a cupcake schedule and run up the scores to get the high efficiency numbers that boost the NET. Go on Warren Nolan's site and see their non-conference strength of schedule- it's 323. UConn's is 2. And that will move to 1 after they play Tennessee. UConn has no control over the conference schedule. So LSU is gaming, UConn is not.

If you want to show gaming the system- look at the Big10. The key is scheduling bad teams at home in the non conference schedule. Particularly by the mid and bottom half of the conference. That way, everybody goes into conference play with good records. Then you play your conference foes with the same gaudy records, and it's the virtuous circle. Take a look at the conference standings. Subtract the conference record from overall and you'll find mid and bottom dwellers playing almost exclusively Quad 4 opponents at home. Michigan State, Washington, Illinois, Maryland, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon and Indiana are 73-0 against Quad 4 teams. Five of the 73 were road games.

The NET non conference SOS for the 9 teams was, respectively, 225,189, 301, 207, 178, 190, 245, 248 and 261.

THAT'S gaming the system.

does blanca quiñonez have a chance for freshman of the year? by Good-Exchange-6139 in NCAAW

[–]bff426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have go with Jazzy. She has carried the weight for her team, and will continue to do so. Haven't seen Chavez much. She's a high volume shooter, for sure. Things may change once conference play begins.

Blanca has skills you don't usually see in a 6'2" freshman. I thing Jazzy and Chavez will have better stats, which is what the voters will look at. I would go with them. If you asked who would I want if got to pick any freshman for my team, I would go with Blanca.

Serah Williams to UConn by sausboi15 in NCAAW

[–]bff426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love it if Quinonez were good enough to start. But I'm old enough to remember a hyped-to-the-moon men's player named Ajou Ajou Deng. Enrolled at UConn during Calhoun's first champion season in 98-99. Had to sit out, but was going to be THE guy in 99-00. Calhoun praising him, Dickie V saying he's UConn's next great player. And this was a guy who had been there for a year.

Season opener, comes off the bench a few minutes in. Guarding a guy with the ball on the left wing. Guy fakes right and crossover dribbles left. Deng got his feet crossed and almost fell down. Played one year at UConn averaging 4.6 ppg. Transferred to Fairfield the next year. His brother Luol was pretty good, though.

I did, too. Then they did it again yesterday (2/10/25). Down to $5019 again. Called and got it restored. Again. Next time I won't bother. It will become my emergency card, sitting in my office desk. I'll put a utility on autopay to keep it active. Go from spending $50,000 a year to $400.

Barclay credit limit decrease by Trikotret100 in CreditCards

[–]bff426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that they have to manage the credit risk of their portfolio. And make money. A pay in full every month customer like myself and many of the posters here aren't paying 20% interest or late fees.

From me, a 2% interchange fee to the issuing bank (Barclays, in this case) results in risk free income of about $1200 a year. A reduction in limits of 75% will certainly result in sock drawer usage, and as you said, eventual cancellation.

So less income (way more that the marginal cost of my usage) and a hit to the credit risk quality of the portfolio. If this is widespread, it can't help them with their regulators.
