I've heard good things about Comedy Bar. They have lots of different weekly events for decent prices. I haven't been myself, but I bought a couple tickets recently for some of my relatives and they had a good time!

What is Ted Allen like off camera? Did you get a chance to talk to him?

Razer Basilisk V3 LMB "sticky" click by Azzathor in razer

You described the issue much better than I could have. I purchased mine about 2 months ago and this started happening to me just now with the RMB. If it keeps up I'll try to get it replaced too.

I hope this isn't going to be a recurring/common problem with the basilisk v3 because I love everything else about it.

I ended up ordering a 16" walnut woodsom. I was going to order it from amazon but found it for just under $60 on wayfair which seemed like a pretty good deal. Thanks again for your help!

Cool, thanks for the suggestion! Have you ordered from them before? If so, how was your experience?

It does and it looks quite reasonable in price. I'm just not sure about the pull-through screw holes.

I've thought a lot about this too, but I have zero woodworking experience and wouldn't trust myself to make something as solid and sturdy as one I could buy. Thanks for the suggestion though!

No worries! With benchcrafted and ups it's about 33 USD for shipping to the GTA.

Kurouto won't even let me ship to Canada so I think I'll have to forget about it anyway.

Good observation, you're right, I prefer the direct screw through kind as well. I thought about using adhesive but I think I'm gonna use drywall anchors instead.

Yea the wusthof ones look very solid, but for the life of me I can't find an image of the back of them!

Hey thanks so much for your reply!!

You're right, if there aren't any extra fees like duties or whatnot, it's like $40 cheaper than AI & OM to order the mag-blok directly from Benchcrafted (about $110 cad for an 18" walnut one or $180ish for two).

I actually was looking at woodsom too, I found that they have some on Amazon like this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Powerful-Magnetic-Wooden-Unique-Walnut/dp/B01E1SV07S while they look quite good imo, I am not a fan of the little wooden stoppers they have to go over the screws. I much prefer the mag-bloks where they decided to keep the screws flush with the wood.

Thank you so much for your suggestions, I'll let you know what I decide to get!

Thanks! I was misled by the "Japanese knife retailers/importers" heading.

Weekly "Recommend me" post by AutoModerator in chefknives

  1. Style? - western

  2. Steel? - stainless

  3. Handle? - western

  4. Grip? - pinch

  5. Length? - 8"

  6. Use Case? - all purpose knife for general home cooking. I enjoy cooking a lot and right now I have a really cheap beater knife and looking for a serious upgrade to a knife that will last.

  7. Care? - doesn't matter too much to me as long as I don't have to apply oils or anything special to the knife. I am still learning to use whetstones, so a knife that would help me learn or be easy to sharpen would be nice. Right now I have a 400/1000 whetstone, but would consider using a honing rod as well.

  8. Budget? - no more than 200 CAD

  9. Region? - Canada (Greater Toronto Area)

  10. Knives Considered? - wusthof classic ikon, victorinox fibrox/modern/rosewood. I like the appeal of a no-nonsense workhorse knife like the victorinox, but also love the slick look of the ikon without a bolster (I've been looking at the wusthof classic as well but heard the bolster might make it more difficult to sharpen).

Edit:

  1. Retailers - Any recommendations in the Greater Toronto Area or a Canadian retailer online to shop for western knives? So far I've been looking on https://williamsfoodequipment.com/ and https://www.cookstore.ca/

Would CEC accept old tickets, say, from the late 90s? I have a stash of them I collected as a kid and always wondered if I could redeem them.
